1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / bottlecap mirror/frame on: April 24, 2010 08:50:02 AM
This was created for the crafty detective swap.  I have been saving/finding bottlecaps for a long time and have quite a collection in many colors.  I sorted them and laid out a couple of different designed; this one is what I liked best.  Attaching the bottle caps was a bit more difficult than I anticipated, but hot glue did the trick eventually.  (the picture is of the frame before I put the mirror back in).

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / textured autumn/fire on: April 24, 2010 08:45:30 AM
I made these for the crafty detective swap.  Both are 6x9 on canvas with acrylic paint; the request was for textured art in autumn colors.  I think they turned out a bit brighter than autumn, more like fire, but I really like them.

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / radical and warm! on: April 24, 2010 08:42:25 AM
I made this for the crafty detective swap...definitely one of my favorite projects!  I saw some pictures around craftster and on wists and freeformed a basic beanie and the mohawk.  The gray is acrylic and the blue is wool; for a stiffer/more stand up mohawk the recipient can wash the beanie, felting the mohawk but not the actual hat.  Sorry I don't have action shots; I sent it before I thought of getting them.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: The West Wing / Aaron Sorkin swap....? on: April 23, 2010 01:56:01 PM
I would definitely be in for this swap! I am rewatching the series right now...so good!
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Wheel of Time / Robert Jordan swap? on: April 23, 2010 01:53:53 PM
I love these books, but am struggling to imagine crafts that could be made, beyond Aes Sedai rings, shawls, or pieces of cuendillar, which makes it difficult to imagine actually joining the swap...
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Crafty Detective Round 6- the gallery! on: April 19, 2010 05:17:03 PM
Oh my goodness, that bra is a scream!  Stunning. Absolutely stunning...I can't even begin to imagine how you made that!

Gamemom, I'm glad you liked your package! I was a little nervous about the mirror making it, but it appears to have arrived in one piece!  The mohwak hat took way longer than I thought it would...the hat itself was ok, but putting on the mohawk took forever!  The mohawk (but not hat) will felt if your daughter wants it to stand up more; I liked the floppy look so I left it as is.
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Tree of Life Wall Quilt on: April 18, 2010 12:00:19 PM
Absolutely beautiful!
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help! [best yarn for beginner?] on: April 18, 2010 09:56:17 AM
All of the above, but also something you really like.  When I started, if it wasn't a yarn I liked, then I didn't want to do it.  Why would I want to spend time staring at and using a color/yarn I didn't love?  It just made learning that much harder.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Crafty Detective Round 6- the gallery! on: April 18, 2010 08:58:53 AM
What is a tree-hugger? I've been called a tree-hugger before, but I don't believe I've ever seen one?

I have always called it a treehugger, but others might call it something different.  Basically, it is an organizer for a campsite.  It buckles safely around a tree (or other largish object) and has pockets/loops/clips to stow small items off the ground but in an easily reachable and findable spot. (So I don't keep losing the extra flashlight, cards, and paring knife, for example).

I love all the packages so far!  The Mario stuff is awesome, and Squee turned out really really well (JTHM! yes!)
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Crafty Detective Round 6- the gallery! on: April 17, 2010 06:24:19 PM
I received!  and SAHmama spoiled me silly!  This is very picture heavy, so I posted thumbnails for most of them.

So, first I received a teaser letter earlier this week with this adorable needlebook (and a letter saying "Whooooo am I?":

Then today, I came home, wet and tired from moving a friend on a cold and rainy New England day, to this wonderful package:

Inside there were many goodies!  Wristlets form a recylced felted sweater and a cute lip balm holder ('cause I always lose mine...)

A West Wing tshirt:

an amazing treehugger for when I go camping:

a furry monster case for my DS:

the BEST DINO HAT EVER!!! (which, I will add, I haven't taken off yet...)

a zippered bag for when I go letterboxing (an outdoor treasure hunt of sorts)

and (I know, I know, it just keeps coming!!!)  TWO REVERSIBLE aprons...my partner has already claimed the alien one as hers!

SAHmama, thank you so much! It is all amazing!
