Well, I tried one last night, just to get a feel fo it,  from a pattern, and it was not bad, straight decrease on either side.  Of course, it did not occur to me to increase, now that you explained it, it makes sense in my head. Now, I just have to make sense of it with my hook .

Once I figured out how to navigate on this forum, I guess i never really paid much attention to some of the features .
However, the main problem is that I was not specific enough in my original post.

I was trying to find a cap with a smallish visor. The ones I have come across were all a lot bigger than I wanted.  I am not confident enough to change an existing pattern,  that is why I asked for help.

I am looking for a hat pattern. I'd like to make one with a visor.
