3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Lion Brand Yarn Studio Blanket on: November 03, 2011 05:17:39 AM
I started this project back in January 2011 and just completed it 2 weeks ago! It doesn't take that long to make, I am just slow. It is like snuggling in a big sweater. I love it. Hope you enjoy! I got the pattern from Lion Brand Yarn 'studio blanket': http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternRating.cgi?showReview=1&itemKey=1922244908

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Chevron skirt from thrifted tunic on: October 29, 2011 03:34:15 PM

I cut off the bodice and made a waistband from black stretchy knit material. I made the band an inch or so smaller than my waist for a snugger fit and then sewed it onto the skirt fabric. It is a little wonky around the waist but I plan to wear the tops over the waist anyways.
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / clothing refashioned into autumn pillows on: September 05, 2011 08:39:00 AM

I wanted to make some Autumn pillows. I had some old lab jackets and a shirt that i wanted to reuse. I dyed some of the fabric using a shibori method that I found on Rits website:  http://www.ritdye.com/dyeing-techniques/shibori.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cargo Shorts From Pants on: June 26, 2011 01:52:22 PM
I cut the length off on the pants and used the leg portion of the pants to make pockets.
The rise on the crotch is too long - is it posttible to shorten high waisted pants or shorts?

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dated Dress Into Summer Refashion on: June 05, 2011 01:00:42 PM
I bought this dress at the thrift shop for about $6.00. It dated but I loved the fabric and it is nice and light cotton material which is perfect for summer.

I cut off the sleeves and cut the dress at the shoulder seams to remove excess fabric in the back. I sewed along the side to the waistline to make the armholes fit.

Then I cut the bottom of the dress too short and crooked.  Argh!! I kept hearing Tim Gunn in my head saying make it work.  I had some material that I use for lining dresses. I folded a piece up like bias tape and sewed along the bottom edge. It took me about a week to correct the damage. Why is hemming a dress so difficult?!

I replaced the ugly gold plastic buttons with some new ones. I love this dress. It is not perfect, but I cant wait to wear it.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Blue Liz on: May 28, 2011 06:42:35 AM
Another shirt refashion! I basically just cut off the sleeves and made a strip of fabric for the collar and ties. I also added pleats and moved the pocket to the bottom of the shirt.
