well you won't leave the house with the lights on right? but the paper sits above the little bulb it should be touching the plastic part.

Here's a project I just made the other day. It's in my room and I like how the paper covers have lessened the intensity of the blue L.E.D.s.
It's an easy project, look up a tutorial for an origami water bomb, get some colorful origami paper, and there you have it.
