1  Pinwheel Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by tsukikomoon on: August 02, 2011 03:35:05 PM
Note: I wasn't quite sure where to put this, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong category in advance.

Anyways, I saw a tutorial online once (if I can find it again, I'll post a link) for making a pinwheel. And I thought it was sort of cute, so I decided to make a small version of it, using thread instead of pipe cleaners and crystal beads instead of pony beads. I used small squares cut out from some scrap paper, black thread, a needle, and crystal beads. So, here we go Cheesy

Actually, I messed up on my first try (the one with the white/clear bead in the middle). I threaded the string through the wrong way.

To show how small it is:

Action shot!

It's more sturdy than I expected...I half expected one to be completely destroyed after a day, but the one I wore today actually survived! Through almost two hours of playing tag and stuff with little kids, too!

Comments, criticism, anything is welcome Cheesy

2  Tree of Life in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tsukikomoon on: April 25, 2011 06:06:07 PM
I've had a growing collection of old key rings, salvaged from dead key chains. So, I decided to put some use into them. I've always admired other people's tree of life pendants - they're so pretty! So I gathered some old twist ties, and the key rings, and sat down to make some...

Twist ties are surprisingly easy to use, although my nail polish got pretty chipped up in the process   Embarrassed
But I rather like how these turned out  Cheesy

and process photo...I was bored  Wink

C&C welcome!

3  The Nightingale in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by tsukikomoon on: February 27, 2011 07:18:30 PM
So, today, I tried my hand at making a small booklet/thingy about the fairytale story "The Emperor and the Nightingale"...except this one shows a queen instead of an emperor, and it doesn't show the happy ending  Sad Drawings were done with colored pencil and outlined in pen. The binding is part string and part glue. Anyways...to the pictures Cheesy

btw, the back says "Nothing can replace you"
Comments, critique, anything is appreciated Cheesy Thanks! Cheesy

4  CG Character Art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by tsukikomoon on: February 20, 2011 08:01:53 AM
For The World

Hello Cheesy So, this was a project for my art class. The objective was to focus on character design, and explore different mediums. We were supposed to create three pictures of a character of our choosing (an original character was encouraged, but you could use a non-original character as long as you were creative with it) - a headshot, waist up, and full body. We were supposed to try and use different perspectives, and use three different mediums (like, pencil, digital, water color, etc.). At least one had to be realistic. The others could be in whatever style.

I decided to use an original character for this project (details and back story are at the end). Eh, all you really need to know is that she has some magical ability that when used will save the universe, but will destroy her and her friends and family. This is my first time doing realistic CG art - I'm more used to a manga/anime style. This was done on Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, using the brush and a LOT of blur Tongue and a layer hue/saturation adjustment, because the colors were a bit dull when I finished. Erm, so here she is Cheesy It's titled "Don't Think" (she's using that magical ability I mentioned earlier)

When I finished, I wasn't really sure about the band around her head - I was originally going for a slightly different background story, where she's idolized like a princess, but now I'm not sure. So here's a version without the band, although I think her hair looks sort of weird in this one...

and then the two other pieces to complete this project Cheesy
This one is the headshot, done with colored pencil. It's titled "Tired", showing her after using the magical ability (the ability drains her energy with every use)

and then I went like, ack, I need a full body picture! So I quickly drew an anime/manga style one, in pencil. I plan to ink it, at least, or maybe just do something else...It shows her in normal clothes, because you can't be a hero all the time! Cheesy

Background information! Ignore the sucky fantasy names, I need a better imagination  Roll Eyes

Name: Amaya
Gender: Female
Spell Ability: Degeneration
Race: Daemon
Eye Color: Dark Blue
Background: The elves of silver and the dragonlings are mortal enemies. They have fought for nearly a millenium, sometimes for no reason at all. The two races are simply too different to coexist. The prophecy has foretold a last war, one that will destroy the universe. With the next awakening of the ancient beasts that have destroyed worlds before, the elves and the dragonlings will fight for the last time. The dragonlings have the Seiryuu, the Azure Dragon of the East. The elves have the Byakko, the White Tiger of the West. Neither side is willing to stop. However, there was a second prophecy, one of a girl, a daemon. She comes from another world, sent to this one for a reason she does not yet know. She alone possesses the ability to stop the destruction of the universe, but at a price. She knows degeneration, a spell more powerful than the dragon and the tiger combined. Degeneration comes at a price - it will erase her existence from the universe, along with the world she came from. Now, she must make a choice - to save the whole universe at the sacrifice of herself and the world she always knew, or to stand by and watch as the universe sinks into chaos.

Comments, critique, anything is appreciated Cheesy I still have a little time to fix everything, sooo Cheesy

5  Help with drawing a face? [UPDATED, again] in More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions by tsukikomoon on: February 10, 2011 05:50:09 PM
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY Cheesy

ah, the hair is still a work in progress, so excuse how weird it looks right now...also, I'm planning on putting a crown or band or something around it, which is why the hair looks like it's split into two sections (up and down) now to finish that, and work on the neck and ear Smiley as usual, any comments are appreciated Cheesy

preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', '_________________________________________________________________')
yeah, erm, I fixed a few things (or tried to...it involved abusing the blur tool) I'm not sure if I got the eyes quite right...or anything else, for that matter...comments would be appreciated Cheesy

preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', '_________________________________________________________________')
Hi Cheesy Sooo...right now, I'm in the middle of attempting to draw a person using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. I'm currently shading in the face (I usually block in base colors, and work on sections at a time - the other layers, like the hair and clothing, are hidden...and the bright green background is to make sure that I don't accidentally color out of the lines Smiley ). However, there's something about the face - I think it's the lighting on the upper lip, or the eyebrows or something - that just feels a little off. Usually, when something like this happens, I don't work on the piece for about anywhere from a week to a month, and then when I come back, I can tell what's wrong. But I've been procrastinating, so I don't really have the time (yeah, it's an art project for school Grin shh, don't tell my teacher that I've been procrastinating Wink ) I'd really appreciate any comments and feedback! Smiley Is the lighting on the upper lip wrong? Or is it something else? Thanks! Cheesy

6  CG Dragon [updated] in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by tsukikomoon on: February 08, 2011 07:09:26 PM
[update]

According to one of my friends, the original purple and red dragon was too girly, so I changed it to red and black...which one do you think is better? the new version is below Smiley

preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', '__________________________________________________')

So, I really wanted to give my bf something for Valentine's day, but I didn't want to do anything too cheesy, because I know he doesn't make a big deal out of it. Eventually, I decided on a dragon. I limited myself to a few hearts and a red and purple color scheme, to go with the theme. Oh, and the fire...it's to cover up the part of the wing I kept on messing up on and then gave up on...er, yeah, that's why it looks off Tongue...Plus, I'm not a big fan of the background. It looks weird for some reason, and other ideas would be helpful Smiley The three Chinese characters on the right mean "I love you". The rest is in traditional, and I read simplified, so I can't tell you exactly what it says. I think it's a collection of random love quotes, though Wink So, er, yeah. Onto the pictures! Oh, wait...last comments - everything was done in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7, using my ultra sensitive and battery eating mouse TT So please excuse all of the shakiness...I'm not too good with the mouse. The dragon design was based partially off of a model that I have, of a really cool green dragon Smiley

And now...sucky sketch Tongue

Yes, the original design had a rose...I thought it looked tacky and weird, so I took it out. Come to think of it, the paw/hand/claw thing holding the rose looks sort of weird too...Tongue

So, comments and critique? I also have the feeling that this isn't enough for a vday present, but I don't know what else to do. My choices are limited to art, because of parents and distance (he doesn't go to my school). Any ideas are welcome Cheesy
