771  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: OTHPT3 aka One Tiny Harry Potter Thing Round 3 ~SUs Closed~SOs June 30~ on: June 19, 2012 08:25:21 PM
@Fascinated: I did not know you could get yarn off Ravelry!! I will definitely have to check that out. Thank you!

@jennieingram: Thank you so much for all that wonderful info! We have a HL and Michael's here and they are two blocks away from each other, so I frequent both of them pretty often. I like them each for certain things, but Michael's is the place to go for art supplies for sure. I didn't know about HL discriminating against gay shoppers...that's pretty shocking. I'm going to have to do some Googling on the matter.

@Pinkleo: How dare you tease all of us, and then make us wait until tomorrow?!

This is absolutely adorable! I love the colors and the fuzzy nature of the yarn. So fab!
774  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do I know how tight I should be pulling my yarn or what my tension should be on: June 19, 2012 05:23:54 PM
I just wanted to second everything Eamea said. I'm also a naturally tight crocheter. If you are worried about it, you can always do the test swatch before starting a pattern to test your gauge. Crochet is so much fun, and very versatile. Good luck!

Love that beaded book thong! Oh and the sweet little house elf...adorable! I love his little outfit.

I have to ask since so many of you mention ordering supplies. What websites or vendors do you use? I buy all my stuff at local craft stores, and I'm wondering if I can find more options and better prices online.
depends on what you are looking for....jewelry supplies, yarn, cloth, etc.
I'll PM where I got my supplies since I don't want to give anything away. Cool

yeah, I know....I'm still online.  I shall have to iron my hands.

Oh no, don't iron your hands! Haha, I'm interested in yarn and charms mostly...but also poly clay supplies, craft paints, and embroidery fabric. Basically a variety of things!

This is hysterical and very well put together! I absolutely love him. My sister would flip for this. Well done.

Ahhh so did you bake the thicker pieces first? I've never rebaked anything, so I have no clue what kind of situation you would need to do that in. I just really need to do some more research on the topic. There are so many things I'd like to make, and now Hogwarts is on my ever growing list!

I'm still in awe of your creation! It's just so fabulous I can't hardly stand it. Did you use white clay and paint it the colors you needed, or did you use brown and gray? Also what brand did you use? Is the cauldron clay as well? Sorry for all the questions. I've admired clay crafting for so long and just started trying it out this year, and I'd love to do something similar to this. It's just wonderful!!
