Cry I'm not supposed to swap for a while but I really want to do this...

Awwww  Cry

Is this a rule you made for yourself? You could just have one partner and therefore, would only have to make two cloths..... Wink

Yes, but due to financial situations, I've also promised others I would stop swapping and save money... But cotton yarn is sososo cheap... I'm torn.

Bummer! I'm definitely planning on there being a Round 2 later this year. Perhaps that will fall during a better time for you Smiley

**ATTENTION ALL KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS**

Mistress Jennie and I are organizing a knit/crochet dishcloth swap and signups have just opened. We would love to see all of you yarn crafters join us there. You can choose to have 1, 2, or 3 partners, for which you will send two cloths each. So you can make (and receive) anywhere from 2 to 6 dishcloths depending on the level of participation you choose. Hope to see all you awesome ladies there!

Project Name: Gryffindor Scarf Crochet Hook
Project Page Link (if available): http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=249484;sa=showTopics
Brief Description: I made this hook for (SURPRISE) Mistress Jennie for the Flat Rate swap as well. I hope this Harry themed hook will make crocheting more exciting for her in her future projects. For this hook the base is a red aluminum hook, covered in sparkly black clay, and wrapped up with a Gryffindor scarf before adorning with Harry's glasses and scar.

44  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Are There crafters who make bikinis on: March 06, 2016 07:07:46 AM
I have never done this myself, but have seen a couple here on Craftster over the years. I would check out Pinterest for inspiration. I think the biggest obstacle in crocheting swimwear is finding the right kind of yarn that will provide adequate coverage, but not get so weighted down by the water that it becomes saggy when wet. Your might try a lightweight cotton or bamboo yarn for it, and line the pieces with a spandex/nylon blend fabric. I think this is one of those projects that will take a lot of trial and error, but worth it once you figure it out. Good luck!
45  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Harry Potter Crochet Hooks on: March 06, 2016 06:01:01 AM
I made these two crochet hooks for my friend Jennie in the Harry Potter Flat Rate Box Swap.

Every witch needs a special wand just for crafting, so I started with a wooden hook base and sculpted her her very own crafting wand!

Next I made her a hook commemorating our favorite boy wizard and his school house, Gryffindor. I used a red aluminum hook covered in a glittery black clay before wrapping the Gryffindor scarf around it, and adorning it with Harry's glasses and scar.

And naturally, a shot of the hooks together, hanging out on the crochet hook wallet I made as well.

Thanks to Jennie for letting me steal her awesome light-box photos. And thanks for looking!

I made this Gryffindor themed hook wallet for my sweet friend Jennie in the HP Flat Rate Box Swap. It's made with hdc stitches throughout and lined with my favorite wool felt from Benzie Design on Etsy, completed with a wooden star button. Jennie was kind enough to share the photos she took  in her fancy light-box with me.

Thanks for checking it out Smiley

Okay, I just randomly saw this swap (I wasn't seeking out new swaps, but it appeared at the bottom of the page for another swap), and since I love making dishcloths, I think I might join. The timing is good and I happen to have a bag of cotton yarn handy!

It is OBVIOUSLY meant to be!

I'm also scouring the internet for fun new patterns. I can't wait to try something new for this one!

The Swap Details:
- Homemade dishcloths are a fun and quick project that you can use to wash dishes, hang on a cabinet, or use as a woolly trivet. Because of the small size and minimal time investment, they are the perfect opportunity to try new techniques, patterns, and bold color combinations. The only limit is your creativity!

- This swap is for 2 handmade (knit or crochet) dishcloths. They should be a standard size cloth, at least 7" x 7" or as large as 9" x 9" (or even larger if you and your partner agree on this!)

- You may have up to 3 partners. Exception: First time swappers are allowed only one partner, to allow you to ease into and learn about the swap process.

- If you and your partner would like to swap more than 2 dishcloths that is okay, just make sure that you discuss with each partner any potential extras.

- If you are feeling especially generous and want to spoil your partner that's fine too, just remember that spoiling is not expected; therefore might not be equally reciprocated by your partner.

* Due to the nature of a dishcloth, only natural fibers should be used, particularly cotton. Some good brands are: Dishie by Knit Picks (hands down, my favorite), Sugar & Cream, Peaches & Cream, I Love This Cotton, Cotton-Ease, and CotLin. Some people use hemp, linen, or bamboo. Acrylic yarn should not be used to make dishcloths.*

Communication is essential to the swap process. Participants should post once before or shortly after sending in their questionnaire, and after that should post here in the discussion thread once a week while the swap is running. Posting on the thread is a great way to keep partners updated and get to know your fellow Craftsters better.
