11  Re: multisize pattern fitting help needed in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by elfin enigma on: November 25, 2006 02:48:41 PM
alrighty, now for some photographic evidence!  [why do the pictures get all smooshed?]

alrighty, as you can see, the top touches and even overlaps, while the bottom is pretty spread apart.

really sorry about the boob shot, and strange angle, but can you see how it's standing out?

the colored lines are the seams i took in.  one inch per side.  on the blue side, you might be able to see that piece is shortened due to the extra cup-reducing adjustment [i'm guessing equivalent to two cup sizes, whereas on the red side it's just one...strangely it seems to fit better on the red side...not to mention i have to adjust lest with the other seams that way.]

so can ya help me?  i really don't want to try another pattern only because silly me ordered a special kit just for this pattern, the boning premeasured and all.  by the way, this test one has no boning in it.  thanks everyone, i appreciate the replies!

p.s. - when making this post i saw that little picture upload box on the side, first time i've seen that, and i clicked upload, i guess thinking it was going to go in my post, which it didn't, so where exactly did i just upload my picture to?!  oops...

12  Re: "Let's Do the iTunes Shuffle!" - Round 3 - Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by elfin enigma on: August 18, 2006 04:17:11 PM
okay, pictures!  i am still typing all the stuff into my itunes, so no track listing, sorry, but among many others are things like sufjan stevens, death cab for cutie, the mountain goats, spoon, ben folds five, the dismemberment plan...just to give you a little hint.

the three cds and a note, covers are multi-layer hand screened...this picture doesn't do justice.  and the actual cds have pronunciation and definitions of the word shuffle written on them.

sam likes presents, too...  he's completed his inspection and has claimed it as his own.

i think it might be love...

13  cute-ish shirt made cuter! [3 photos] in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by elfin enigma on: July 28, 2006 10:12:41 PM
i spotted this and thought it had potential, so here we go.  i may still take it in a bit/make darts and maybe do something with the collar area, but this is it so far.

before:

after some new buttons, elastic, and shortening the sleeves and bottom hem [only because i wanted it straight...boo]:

close-up of bunchy sleeve and note the cute teeny heart button [to cover up a small hole from removing the pocket, shhhh...]:

14  shirt from 67cent remnant! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by elfin enigma on: July 23, 2006 08:53:57 PM
i used another shirt i had as a guide...and learned that just because it fits well and you measure perfectly does not mean it will come out right!!  a little difficulty with the sleeves, they're still not exactly what i wanted but they're okay.  it also turned out more boat-necky than planned, but that's a welcome accident.  i don't have enough of either the black or white to do binding around the neck and i figured regular seam binding would be too stiff so for now i'm leaving it unfinished.  anyway!  [can anyone tell what the other things are, not the hearts?  they look like maybe puppies to me??  puppies with wings?  i don't know...]  sorry, i couldn't get a better over-all shot.

15  Re: quickie dress that anybody can make in Clothing Sewalongs by elfin enigma on: July 22, 2006 05:15:24 PM
okay, here's mine!  i'm only going to put one pic, none are that great anyway...i couldn't get a good shot of the skirt, i looove combo of nice drapey fabric and circle skirt, it falls so nicely!  i like this way i wrapped it a lot, except that i'm noticing now, it showcases my lack-of-boobs.  i'm also in the club of not really caring to have my back too exposed, so i'm trying more ways.  my straps are toooooo long, 10 feet, but i'm finding them kinda fun to play with so i haven't trimmed them yet.  another big thank yoooooooou to rostitchery!

16  Re: Making Your Own Corset? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by elfin enigma on: June 10, 2006 11:02:02 AM
hi ladies...i'm in need of some of you expert-corset-markers' advice!  so i made my practice one...no front closure, i just used safety pins [i hope i judeged accurately where those should go], and never having worked with a busk before i'm not quite sure how that will affect the finished product.  also, it is not lined, my real one will be, probably with two layers?...there will surely be more questions later!...and, i would like to make it longer.  just a bit, but again, i don't know if that would work since the busk is a certain length, etc.  anyway!  i took some [bad] pictures to show the basic fit.  as you can see, the bust is much too big!  this is braless, but even with it was huge.  i'm not sure how i will be wearing it, alone or over something...  i cut the whole thing out in size 12...by measurement i should be size 10 in the bust, 14 in the waist, and 16 in the hips.  well i think the 10 would STILL be too big in the bust, and the 14/16 definitely much too big, so i'm kind of glad i tried it this way.  please let me know what you think, and how to go about adjusting it to fit, if possible!  should i just take in those front couple pieces?  all of them a tiny bit?  hmmm...  by the way, the back is laced completely shut [that picture didn't turn out].  with one less eyelet than the pattern calls for, whoops.  please pardon the pics, i didn't want to offend anyone with near-nudity and bathroom clutter!  **edited to adjust moster pic size, sorry!...now it smushed them all weird.  argh.**

17  summery dotty bag with a bow! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by elfin enigma on: June 03, 2006 12:54:52 PM
i saw this fabric, was too cute to pass up plus i had a little scrap of ribbon that matched/contrasted perfectly!  partly inspired by j.marie's super cute pink-and-roomy bag:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=98315.0

lined in black, no pockets or anything...i got too excited about making it to fit any of that into the planning.  nice simple summery bag.  [the little things sticking up in the middle are the ties, completely open bags make me nervous!]

18  Re: must i be so disproportionate?! argh. [from questions--->finished project!] in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by elfin enigma on: June 01, 2006 07:40:01 PM
okay!  unfrustrated!  dress is wearable.  i mean it was before...but not to my satisfaction.  thank you for the replies, the encouragement and tips are appreciated.  and i learned long ago, once you start getting frustrated, not to mention tired and bleary-eyed, with a project, better to try again later than get annoyed and end up wanting to tear it up.  so, i set it aside last night, came and checked the relpies this afternoon and ended up using the elastic thread tip.  you said "just a touch", well, i think i pulled just a bit too much and had some trouble getting it back, but it's not so bad.  i doubled the thread just to be sure there would be no more flappage.  here are a few pics!  the bottom hem combined with the color makes me think of lettuce, haha.  [actually on the bolt the color was called spinach...i say it's more lime.  or string bean or broccoli stem, if we're going with the vegetables.]  oh, i didn't do anything with the back yet...i hate to mess with it more now that i like it, but i also think i won't wear it as is...extremely self concious about something...still brainstorming on that one.  sorry, taking the pics myself, i had difficulty getting a good shot of the whole thing.

19  Re: Little Stuffies, Bunny, Cat, Bear... in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by elfin enigma on: May 18, 2006 08:17:06 PM
i finished mine...not thrilled with it [but when am i ever?!]  i had some head-attachment difficulties, and the teeny tail and arms were really hard to turn and stuff.  meh.  i'll try again sometime.  i haven't taken a picture yet, but i will post it when i do.  these are all adorable but i especially love the black one with the biiiiig eyes.

alright, here she is.  i think i shall call her penelope.  her head's kinda pointy and arms are all over the place, not to mention the visible stitches.

20  new york tshirt recon in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by elfin enigma on: May 16, 2006 09:13:59 PM
this started out as an XL new york giants shirt.  i left off the giants part because i know NOTHING about football and would feel a little silly wearing a team's shirt when i don't know anything, y'know?  but who doesn't love new york?!  i don't know, i think it's a little long [and too snug in that bottom grey part]...and if i keep the ruching um, ruched?, then it makes the blue part baggyish.  it's okay i guess, i'll wear it tomorrow and see how it goes.  one thing i don't like about reconning tshirts is they always seem to have some floppy parts.  like on this one the armholes and back neckline are kind of gappy, if that makes sense.
