1  Ornaments: Disney UP chairs in CHALLENGE 102 ENTRIES by whitterp on: September 03, 2014 04:48:24 PM
I just finished these in the Disney Round 12 Swap. My partner said she loved ornaments and love themes, and I immediately thought of Carl and Ellie's chairs from the movie. The chairs represent so much of their sweet relationship!

So I made two small chairs modeled after theirs!

(cat for scale)

I cut pieces of cardboard and used felt for padding and wrapped them in fabric similar to the movie. For those not familiar, here's the inspiration:

I had so much fun making these! I love tiny things like dollhouse accessories, so this was very similar. I can't wait to try this technique again!

I received as well and love everything that Helena Puck made! Behold my awesomeness!

Ariel zipper pouch!

My first ever mug rug! I'm so excited!

Both are beautifully quilted and they don't sell any of this adorable fabric near me so I'm thrilled to have it!

I knew from etsy that Helena Puck was a skilled jewelry maker so I was very excited to receive this lovely stamped necklace inspired by Snow White

I also received some adorable muppet themed greeting cards and my absolute favorite, a beaker hoopla!!!

Oh I love him so much!

Thank you so much for everything Helena Puck! I love it all!

4  Re: Felt Flower Wedding Bouquet in Weddings and Bridal Showers by whitterp on: August 01, 2014 10:10:03 AM
thank you everyone for your very kind words! I get all mushy about weddings and anniversaries and decided to take you all down memory lane with me  Cheesy

I have a bouquet vase that it just kindof lays in so we could display it in our home(see pic below). I spent so much time on it I would never get rid of it!

I had real flowers too, but I really liked the idea of creating something and putting love and energy into a piece of our wedding. We made some other decor too but this was the most special to me.

5  Felt Flower Wedding Bouquet in Weddings and Bridal Showers by whitterp on: August 01, 2014 07:29:39 AM
Monday will be my two year anniversary, and I've never shared the felt bouquet I made for my wedding. It's easily one of the projects I am the most proud of but I never thought to post it here until now!

To make it, I made beaded stamens with itty bitty wire and seed beads. I attached those to the stems using floral tape. Then I cut individual petals out of really good quality felt and sewed them in different types of flowers until I could arrange them into a bouquet. It was very easy, but very time consuming! I have a LOT of pictures so sorry if its too much!

My goal wasn't really to make something that looked real, so while I kindof based these off real flowers I didn't worry too much if they were a little abstract or unrealistic. I made about 60 extra flowers as well that my florist worked into the other arrangements with real flowers. We wanted a kindof crafty feel to the whole thing.

Also my photo skills are not great, so here's a photo (ok two) my photographer took that I think is much prettier! I think my favorite part are the green kinda spikey things!  Cheesy

Thanks for indulging me while I reminisce about my wedding!  Cheesy

7  Re: Friend of Craftster Raffle Rd 12 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by whitterp on: June 16, 2014 02:27:52 PM
I sent and received today, but I'm much more excited about the latter! I received beautiful handmade cards! They are so lovely and the pictures really do not do them justice.

Here are some close ups of my favorites!

I don't want to send them away! Smiley

Thank you so much!

8  Here Come The Sun Hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by whitterp on: June 05, 2014 06:33:40 PM
Just wanted to share my item for the friend of craftster raffle swap! I stitched up a pattern from urban threads.

Had to force myself to do some satin stitch but I think it turned out really nicely! And I've been adding beads to everything lately for a little sparkle.

That happy little sun just makes me smile! Hope it makes you smile too Cheesy

10  Beaded Bird Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by whitterp on: May 05, 2014 08:56:42 AM
I finished this project for a swap a LONG time ago (like last September) but never got around to posting it in here. Came across the photos this weekend and thought I would share with you!  I've been a little lazy with my stitching lately but looking at this helps me feel inspired to start up again. I really need to get out of my craft funk!

This is all seed beads embroidered/sewn onto cotton fabric. I can't remember the exact hoop size but I'm guessing its a 6 inch hoop. It's the first time I've ever done something like this and I think it actually came out really well! I was inspired by my swap partners pinterest board, where she had pinned several 3D beaded birds. I stitched down each bead individually, as opposed to laying a rowof them down. I tried both techniques and while doing a row at a time would have probably been faster I found it was difficult to get the beads exactly where I wanted them and I felt I had more control sewing each individual bead. I hope it's held up for my partner!

I would love your thoughts! I really want to make more embroidery like this, but maybe incorporate regular stitching too.

Thanks for looking!
