1  Re: Friend of Craftster Raffle Rd 12 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by whitterp on: June 16, 2014 02:27:52 PM
I sent and received today, but I'm much more excited about the latter! I received beautiful handmade cards! They are so lovely and the pictures really do not do them justice.

Here are some close ups of my favorites!

I don't want to send them away! Smiley

Thank you so much!

2  Here Come The Sun Hoopla in Needlework: Completed Projects by whitterp on: June 05, 2014 06:33:40 PM
Just wanted to share my item for the friend of craftster raffle swap! I stitched up a pattern from urban threads.

Had to force myself to do some satin stitch but I think it turned out really nicely! And I've been adding beads to everything lately for a little sparkle.

That happy little sun just makes me smile! Hope it makes you smile too Cheesy

4  Beaded Bird Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by whitterp on: May 05, 2014 08:56:42 AM
I finished this project for a swap a LONG time ago (like last September) but never got around to posting it in here. Came across the photos this weekend and thought I would share with you!  I've been a little lazy with my stitching lately but looking at this helps me feel inspired to start up again. I really need to get out of my craft funk!

This is all seed beads embroidered/sewn onto cotton fabric. I can't remember the exact hoop size but I'm guessing its a 6 inch hoop. It's the first time I've ever done something like this and I think it actually came out really well! I was inspired by my swap partners pinterest board, where she had pinned several 3D beaded birds. I stitched down each bead individually, as opposed to laying a rowof them down. I tried both techniques and while doing a row at a time would have probably been faster I found it was difficult to get the beads exactly where I wanted them and I felt I had more control sewing each individual bead. I hope it's held up for my partner!

I would love your thoughts! I really want to make more embroidery like this, but maybe incorporate regular stitching too.

Thanks for looking!

I received my wonderful package and finally got the photos off my camera! My secret swap partner was....LadyBugsandB umblebees! She did an amazing job stalking me! Said she had trouble but if crafting exactly to my hearts desire is trouble, yall just watch out when she thinks it's easy! Wink

Behold the crafty goodness...

sweet birds made by her children. I adore them!

a whole lot of crochet oven mitts! Gorgeous colors all of them

crocheted nesting bowls!!! I have wanted crochet bowls/baskets for the longest time and these are the prettiest colors! Bright reds and blues, they will look amazing on my bookshelf Smiley

AND the most badass crochet skull garland ever! this this is so cool! Again, perfect colors for me and I love that she sewed little flowers on them. This is just the pop of color and fun my office needs and I can't wait to hang them up! Check out the detail:

I was so spoiled and I honestly could not pick a favorite out of the bunch. PLUS she sent a bunch of extras- skull socks, a skittles scented candle, notecards, bookmarks. I'm not worthy.

Thank you so much for everything LB&BB,  I love it all and it definitely cheered me up. Everytime I do one of these swaps I am just amazed at how people will go out of their way to bring happiness to a person they've never met before! You've definitely inspired me to feel more positive about life- nice people are awesome Smiley

Oh i love all your stuff! That bag is awesome and I really like the candle holder. It's so pretty!

I glad you liked the little painting, I actually hadn't touched my paints in YEARS and it felt really good to break those out again and play.

Since people asked, here are a few pictures that I took of my stuff before I sent. The sewing isn't perfect, but I've never made something like these before with no patterns.

A closeup of the shirt (I hope it fits I made it based off a shirt in your size that I had in my closet!)

The button hoop:

and the item I was most proud of, the bag. It's actually reversible so that orange lining you see could be flipped to the outside.

I received earlier this week from Kartiana! She did an amazing job- prepare to pin!

First off, these adorable clothespins she decorated with paper.

I love them! She also made me an adorable measuring tape bracelet and an awesome journal!

I can't wait to write and doodle in it. There's really pretty scrapbook paper separating each section.

I was so excited to see this next item. An adorable ruffle apron! Please excuse my legs but I wanted to show how cute it was on Smiley

This last item really blew me away! Kartiana said its a dish mat but its so beautiful we've put it out to display on our dining room table! She hand sewed the entire thing and WOW! It's gorgeous and I'm pretty sure perfect.  Grin

I was definitely spoiled! I love everything so much! Thank you, Kartiana!  Cheesy

8  Kitchen themed embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by whitterp on: July 18, 2013 11:02:30 AM
Just wanted to share some quick hoops I made for my kitchen!

I stitched two new pieces of embroidery for my kitchen from some retro inspired patterns I found in a friends stash. These were iron on transfers that I think she found at Joanns one day.

I wanted everything to be simple, so I used only straight stitch and split stitch for the majority. I love to bake so these will fit right in!

Can't wait to hang these up. Thanks for looking!

9  Cross Stitch Family Portrait in Needlework: Completed Projects by whitterp on: June 29, 2013 07:08:01 AM
Just wanted to share my little family portrait! I didn't use a pattern but this would be easy to adapt for your needs, and there are lots of similar projects online.

Meet my family!

I've been meaning to make this for a long time and finally got around to it leading up to our first anniversary. I think the teeny cats are my favorite Smiley

Happy to read any comments or answer any questions! Thanks for looking!
