1  Re: Not Quite a Gazillion Black Apple Dolls... But Close! (lots o'pics) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Paulasews on: November 28, 2009 04:09:47 PM
I think they are gorgeous and I would've bought one if I'd been at your fair and I don't even have children, she would just sit somewhere making me smile Smiley  Not that it is any consolation but I never have any luck at craft fairs either, I'm usually just grateful if I make back the cost of the stand. I am trying a new track next week by focusing on personalised gifts but that is the last fair I have booked and I am in two minds as to whether I will do any more. These dolls are one of the things I sell (or don't sell as the case may be!)

obviously they aren't usually all nekkid, I do make them dresses but I don't have any up to date, non blurry well lit pics, sorry!

2  origami earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Paulasews on: August 04, 2009 06:52:17 AM
wasn't sure whether to post this in papercrafts or jewellery! I made these for my flatmate after spending a lazy afternoon teaching her how to make origami cranes and lucky stars, we ended up folding our way through my stash of origami paper so after she went out I strung them all into a garland for her room and then made her these earrings Smiley I am thinking about making some more to sell, would love any feedback Smiley)

3  Re: Custom scrabble in Completed Projects by Paulasews on: January 11, 2009 01:30:40 AM
Hi, I've finally got around to posting a pic of my finished set, I gave it to my sister for Christmas, she liked it but to be quite honest I don't think she could really appreciate just how long it all took! The board is patchworked and I made a fleece lined drawstring bag because the tiles are ceramic.

Ok, I am completely freaked out, I am currently in the process of making almost exactly the same thing! I have been making the tiles in my ceramics class - they have been underglazed and hopefully had their first firing this week, on monday I will be putting a second glaze on to highlight the carved letters.

found this picture on my camera that shows the process of creating the tiles (I have two extra blanks)

I am going to do a patchwork board

I guess great minds think alike eh?

5  stenciled life drawing bag in Stenciling: Completed Projects by Paulasews on: October 24, 2008 02:48:58 AM
I made this bag after a life drawing class, I created a multi layered stencil of my drawing, I'm not sure if you can tell but the imagre wraps from the front and underneath to the back in one piece.

thanks for looking!

6  gourd jug in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Paulasews on: October 23, 2008 03:35:39 PM
This is a jug I completed this week, sitting waiting for biscuit firing. It is modelled on a gourd with a pointed bottom (forms the spout) and it has a twisted handle replicating the stalk. Looking forward to glazing it, I am thinking of copper red and green granite

8  Cheeky monkey in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Paulasews on: October 17, 2008 10:34:26 AM
I made this taggy blanket for my friend's baby and finished it today, the monkey, branch and leaves are all traditional chinese silk and I like the way they contrast with the more traditionally babyish blue flannel. Can't wait to give it to him when I see him on Sunday for my weekly cuddles!

the back says 'Made for Ethan with <3 by Auntie Paula x'

9  Raku vases in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Paulasews on: October 12, 2008 02:34:28 PM
I went to a Raku workshop yesterday led by the teacher of a ceramics evening class that I have recently started. I made these 4 vases in the class so they could be biscuit fired in time for taking with me. It was great fun but three of them were seriously overfired so the colours did not come out, I was disappointed but when I looked at them today I started to come around to them, the group shot is the best likeness and I think they actually work as a series even though they are not as I intended them to be! It was great fun and I would recommend trying Raku to anyone considering it.

10  strings in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Paulasews on: October 12, 2008 01:32:09 AM
Last night I felt like drawing but didn't know what to draw so I checked out Illustration Friday to see what the weekly theme was and it was 'strings'. Here's my drawing....our family cat had to sadly be put down on friday morning and my parents are going to put his ashes on their rose bed. We are all very sad because he was 15 years old and a big presence in their home so he's leaving a big hole behind. The centre figures are my parents and our dog and the outer figures are myself and my sister, seperated by water because we all live in different countries. It is only a quick little doodle really but I am quite happy that it expresses our present states of mind.
