1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Mixed Media Owl on: July 13, 2016 07:53:23 AM
I was painting this background and ran out of acrylic paint, but I had the creative bug bad and I was dying to create SOMETHING...so I got out my oil pastels and pencils and made this owl. It actually worked out really well and it was so much fun! Once I was finished, I sealed it with some spray sealer so that it wouldn't smudge.

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A very large commission :D on: June 29, 2016 04:08:06 PM
Recently, I was commissioned by a children's hospital to create 10 paintings of various sizes. The theme was animals playing outside. Two of the canvases were so big (four feet x five feet!) that I had a hard time taking photos of them.  Cheesy

3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The Fox and the Firefly on: April 20, 2016 04:23:24 PM
I have been so busy lately, I haven't had a lot of time for painting....but I just HAD to get this one finished! I was inspired by a nature photo I saw where the fox almost seemed like he was smiling. It's done with acrylic paint and acrylic inks on a 11x14 stretched canvas.

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Faux Trophy Head Sculptures --Rabbit now finished too! on: December 22, 2015 04:45:11 PM
I am having so much fun making these, I just had to share! They are multi media sculptures made from paper mache, wood, paint, gesso, glaze and fabric. They aren't quite finished...I think I will add some painted details to the plaques and maybe nameplates at the bottom.

I just added a photo of the rabbit I just completed. I made him some spectacles and a tophat because he is quite the dapper fellow. Wink

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Abstract and a "Whimsical Abstract" Art on: October 28, 2015 02:15:06 PM
I normally paint storybook whimsical kids art, but sometimes I like to do other things too. Smiley

For an upcoming art show in November, I have been working on some abstracts to show alongside my other work. The last photo is what I have dubbed a "whimsical abstract" that combines the two styles.

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Alice in Wonderland on: October 03, 2015 04:25:41 PM
Hello all! Smiley This is a painting I just recently finished. It's BIG... the canvas is 36 inches x 36 inches. I've always loved Alice in Wonderland so it was a lot of fun to paint the Mad Hatter's tea party in this large scale.

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Adventure Journal on: July 01, 2015 03:33:35 PM
I made this "Adventure Journal" to chronicle all the daily adventures, doodles and musings that may come up. And who better to guard these adventures than an adventurous dragon? Wink I used heavy cardboard for the front and back covers and painted and drew the artwork on heavy paper, cut it out and created a mini collage.
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / I Love You More Than Cheese on: April 18, 2015 04:10:00 PM
This is something I say to my hubby all the time, so of course I had to make a painting! Cheesy

9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Coloring Book on: April 07, 2015 03:50:11 PM
I just put together a mini coloring book (per my daughter's request Smiley ). I doodle ALL the time and she likes to color them in for me, so it makes perfects sense! Cheesy
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The BIGGEST canvas I have ever painted! on: February 21, 2015 07:43:11 PM
I recently had a solo art show at a local art gallery -- which was the perfect excuse to get a giant canvas to paint on! It measures 4 feet x 4 feet, and was so big it wouldn't fit in my car (I had to call my husband to help me haul it home with his truck!). It was so much fun to paint in a large scale.
