For Christmas every year, everyone in my family draws a name from a hat and has to make that family member a homemade gift. This year, I got my dad's name, who just so happens to be a collector of piggy banks (he has over 500 of them) and I decided to make one for him (eek!).
This is not a piggy bank -- it's a fox mask
. It's is my first attempt at paper mache (I needed to practice before making the piggy bank), and I had a lot of fun making it. I used a balloon and cardboard as the form and painted it with acrylics. It's currently hanging above my art table and I plan to make a whole assembly of woodland masks to go along with it.
I already wrapped the piggy bank and it's sitting under the tree (I forgot to take photos!).
Here is the only halfway decent photo I could get of the piggy bank. Once my dad opened it, he wouldn't put it down.
