1  Faux Trophy Head Sculptures --Rabbit now finished too! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: December 22, 2015 04:45:11 PM
I am having so much fun making these, I just had to share! They are multi media sculptures made from paper mache, wood, paint, gesso, glaze and fabric. They aren't quite finished...I think I will add some painted details to the plaques and maybe nameplates at the bottom.

I just added a photo of the rabbit I just completed. I made him some spectacles and a tophat because he is quite the dapper fellow. Wink

2  Abstract and a "Whimsical Abstract" Art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: October 28, 2015 02:15:06 PM
I normally paint storybook whimsical kids art, but sometimes I like to do other things too. Smiley

For an upcoming art show in November, I have been working on some abstracts to show alongside my other work. The last photo is what I have dubbed a "whimsical abstract" that combines the two styles.

3  Alice in Wonderland in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: October 03, 2015 04:25:41 PM
Hello all! Smiley This is a painting I just recently finished. It's BIG... the canvas is 36 inches x 36 inches. I've always loved Alice in Wonderland so it was a lot of fun to paint the Mad Hatter's tea party in this large scale.

4  Adventure Journal in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: July 01, 2015 03:33:35 PM
I made this "Adventure Journal" to chronicle all the daily adventures, doodles and musings that may come up. And who better to guard these adventures than an adventurous dragon? Wink I used heavy cardboard for the front and back covers and painted and drew the artwork on heavy paper, cut it out and created a mini collage.

5  I Love You More Than Cheese in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: April 18, 2015 04:10:00 PM
This is something I say to my hubby all the time, so of course I had to make a painting! Cheesy

I just put together a mini coloring book (per my daughter's request Smiley ). I doodle ALL the time and she likes to color them in for me, so it makes perfects sense! Cheesy

7  The BIGGEST canvas I have ever painted! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: February 21, 2015 07:43:11 PM
I recently had a solo art show at a local art gallery -- which was the perfect excuse to get a giant canvas to paint on! It measures 4 feet x 4 feet, and was so big it wouldn't fit in my car (I had to call my husband to help me haul it home with his truck!). It was so much fun to paint in a large scale.

8  Magical Whales in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: December 11, 2014 03:26:10 PM
I don't know about you, but I am pretty sure whales are magic creatures and should rank right up there with dragons and unicorns. Smiley Here are a couple of my "whimsical surreal" whale paintings showing what I think whales are up to when we're not looking.

9  Fox Mask (piggy bank picture added) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: December 01, 2014 04:43:46 PM
For Christmas every year, everyone in my family draws a name from a hat and has to make that family member a homemade gift. This year, I got my dad's name, who just so happens to be a collector of piggy banks (he has over 500 of them) and I decided to  make one for him (eek!).

This is not a piggy bank -- it's a fox mask Smiley. It's is my first attempt at paper mache (I needed to practice before making the piggy bank), and I had a lot of fun making it. I used a balloon and cardboard as the form and painted it with acrylics. It's currently hanging above my art table and I plan to make a whole assembly of woodland masks to go along with it.

I already wrapped the piggy bank and it's sitting under the tree (I forgot to take photos!).

Here is the only halfway decent photo I could get of the piggy bank. Once my dad opened it, he wouldn't put it down. Smiley

10  Bird Drawings in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by andralynn on: October 31, 2014 01:54:16 PM
Sometimes, I draw birds. Wink These are a few that I have drawn recently. They're a little different than my usual style, which makes them fun and challenging. Smiley
