I got my package from mybabyisacommunist on Friday, but I only opened it yesterday since I wanted to wait until I had my package sent (I'm so embarrassed it took me so long )
anyway, here's all the lovely things she sent me!
For my house she sent me a messenger bag in Ravenclaw colors, as well as a time turner. Very intuitive of her as I'm completely swamped with my studies right now
For my favorite class, she sent me a little set of pre-made potions earrings as well as cute little bags with the name of each potion stitched on. They're so cute! I'll probably wear the truth serum to work on Halloween
and for my favorite shop, she made me a cute little journal from Flourish and Blotts! I love the stamps on the inside, they add so much charm
And finally, she threw in some delicious (and creepy!) goodies. Some jelly beans, pumpkin(!) flavored pop rocks (which are so awesome because those are literally my two favorite things. how on earth did she know?), a jar full of pumpkin spice kisses, and some creepy looking specimens in a jar. One is a frog and the other is a spider, but they look so creepy I don't know if I can actually eat them lol
thanks so much for the awesome swap, mybabyisacommunist!
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond! My PC has been having a hard time connecting to the internet, but I've finally got it fixed. Anyway, pilarfarmer sent me a lovely pin and I love it so much! Here's the cute bag it came in
The lovely little note inside:
And the pretty pin itself!
It's absolutely lovely, thank you so much pilarfarmer! (and once again I am so sorry for posting pics so late)
ok so I actually made this last winter but I never shared it so here you go! I really wanted a pixie hat but I didn't like the look of any patterns I found online and I'm far to cheap/broke/whatever to buy patterns, so I ended up making up my own. For the first thing I've knitted without a pattern I'd say it came out fantastic.
I was super obsessed with seed stitch and ruffled edges when I made it, so of course I had to incorporate those. It's knitted from Lion Brand Yarn Wool-Ease in Willow on size 11 straight needles. Super soft, super warm, and decently stretchy. Can't wait to break it out again this year. Unfortunately I only have two, really bad web-cam pics of it, but you still get the idea
EDIT: here's the pattern for anyone who wants to make one of their own. all I ask is that you don't use it for profit and if you make a hat I would love to see the results!

if there's anything you don't understand let me know and I'll try to explain it
spent week last month camping on the shore of Lake Superior, and since I always bring back so many of the stones that I have too many bookends and paperweights, I decided to try my hand at making wire wrapped pendants. Pretty happy with the results. These 5 took me about an hour to make, and I may make some more out of the hundred or so I brought back if they sell.
For Hallowe'en this year I decided to be a Calavera Catrina, a sort of full-body version of the traditional Sugar Skulls made for Dia De Los Muertos. I started planning this costume in July, since I'm so obsessed with Hallowe'en costumes Sorry in advance about the picture quality, I had to use my cell phone
The base is an old white, 80's style prom dress from the thrift store that I re-purposed for my costume. After converting the horribly poofy sleeves to off-the-shoulder sleeves, I dyed it yellow with turmeric. At this point, it looked *far* too much like Belle's dress in Beauty and the Beast, so on a whim, I ripped out the petticoat, tattered some of the lace, and put it in the washer with 1/4 a package of black RIT dye and it came out this lovely but rather unexpected moss green color. I absolutely adore it.
The necklace is made from fabric from my scraps bin, as well as some beads I got for my birthday and a button that fell off an old cardigan of mine. The button was coated with glow-in-the-dark nail polish.
The earrings were made from Sculpey. After baking I painted the eye sockets black and coated them in more glow-in-the-dark nail polish.
The gloves were from the thrift store, and I had intended to paint skeleton arms on them, but I ran out of time and funds :/
The make up was done by myself and took about an hour to finish up properly, mostly because I was using dollar store face paint and liquid eyeliner. This particular picture was taken after I went to a Hallowe'en dance on campus, so the make-up on my lips is a little smudged from eating
Glad you liked everything, Sirael! and I finally found my camera, so on to the lovely things I got!
First we have a wonderful book safe painted to look like a copy of Magical Water Plants of the Mediterranean from Flourish and Blotts.I've already put in some sea shells and gull feathers I collected on the beach this summer
From Ravenclaw house is a wonderfully soft t-shirt, which I put on as soon as I got it
and from Ancient Runes we've got...
my very own set of Elder Futhark runes! the cover of the box is wood-burned with the image of a tree and the word "yggdrasil", which is the name for the Norse Tree of Life and the runes inside:
it's so wonderful, and the wood-burning is amazing! I can't wait to use it
for some extra's, Sirael made me this gorgeous key necklace (I love keys! haven't taken this one off yet)
and an embroidered Thestral! it's hard to see because of the reflection on the glass, but the wings are stitched with silver thread. unfortunately, the glass over it broke in shipping, but that's an easy fix and everything else is just fine!
thanks Sirael for the awesome swap! everything is perfect!
first of all, I'd just like to thank Ariaya for the awesome stuff. I feel like she knows me so well, even though we've never met, because everything she sent me fits my personality like a glove! it's amazing. ok, now to all the AMAZING goodies that Ariaya sent me!
first, a group shot (sorry for the background. my kitchen is the only place in my apt with bright enough lighting for pics. also, sorry for the horrible quality, my camera died so I had to use my cell phone):
now on to the recipe card! It's for apple stuffed turkey, and sounds uber delicious. I can't wait to try it out!
and some soap she made me, shaped and scented like spiced pumpkins! soo yummy, and my absolute favorite thing about fall just so happens to be pumpkins!
and some lovely candle holders! I've already put them on my alter
(I've got a ton more pics of the candle holders in the flickr set here
and a hair clip to match the candle holders. isn't it adorable? I wore it to work and classes today (I just couldn't resist, I practically squealed when I saw it!)
a super soft washcloth made out of a nice cotton-blend (shown here with some soaps, also more pics on my flickr set)
some Solomon's Seal oil for prosperity and protection, that smells absolutely amazing. of course, I didn't think of taking the picture until *after* I poured half the bottle into my glass perfume bottle that I keep on my alter.
and finally, some candles to go with the candle holders. they're citrus clove scented, which happens to be my favorite!
once again, thank you so so much, Ariaya! everything you sent was absolutely wonderful!
Never fear, schutlebunny, the treats are safe and sound! the package got here earlier this morning and I got pictures and put everything in the fridge for later tonight and talk about getting spoiled! the cast of HP Glee (whom I will be sharing these goodies with) thanks you very much, schutlebunny!
group shot, before unwrapping (and I love the tissue paper it was all wrapped in ):
the edibles: chocolate frogs
pumpkin juice mix
edible dark mark mints
Dumbledore's lemon drops
Game/Toy/Accesory: schuttlebunny crocheted me a PYGMY PUFF!!!! I have named this cute little ball of green fluff Emerson
Wearable- crocheted fingerless mitts!
right now I am wearing the mitts and drinking some chilled pumpkin juice! it's soo yummy and the mitts are so warm! they fit perfectly! thank you so much schuttlebunny!
I've also got some action shots of the mitts (and Emerson) in my FB album here if you all want to check it out
alright, so here's some pictures of what I made schultebunny!
okay, so only the pygmy puff is my own picture, I didn't think to snap a shot of anything else, but I have pictures of the original patterns
so here is the pygmy puff (which my nephew called Wendell, though schultebunny is more than welcome to rename him!):
and the wrist-cuffs (I omitted the buttons when I made them, but otherwise they are identical):
McGonagall's favorite ginger newts:
and the robe (the one I made has long sleeves and a deathly hallows patch instead of Hogwarts Crest):
sorry for the lack of my own pictures, I'm not extraordinarily gifted with foresight (perhaps this is the reason why Divination is my least favorite class) but I'm glad schultebunny likes her package. I'm sure I'll love what she sends me!
