1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / folding screen ideas? on: July 22, 2005 08:37:02 AM
I need desparately to make a folding screen this week--everything in the stores is either too expensive or just wretched looking...and I am in dire need for one (I could explain, but it is a long story).  Has anyone ever made one?  Any alternative materials besides wood?  My husband is opposed to a curtain as a room divider, so that won't work...I can do some light carpentry, but would rather not Tongue

Let me know!  Thanks!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / The what drugs was I on dress on: July 19, 2005 08:51:07 PM
I made this for an awards ceremony that I went to--I like it, i only think that it is probably for a taller, slimmer figure.  Wish i had a pic of the back because it was cool--dipped very low (to the tailbone) like in front.  I was like J. Lo and everyone thought they would see my roomates come out of my dress Shocked, but they didn't Grin

Oh yeah--and the red python boots may seem weird, but they are my lucky boots, so I had to wear 'em. Roll Eyes
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / A-line wedding dress on: July 19, 2005 06:54:15 PM
I am a photobucket junkie!

This is the wedding dress that I just finished.  It's dupioni silk, flatted with silk organza and lined with china silk.  The sash, buttons, and piping are a silk satin for texture contrast.  The bride designed it with just a few suggestions from moi.

The bride is a dancer and she was tinier than my form, so the dress might look tight, but it really wasn't!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / New Year's Eve Wedding Coat on: July 19, 2005 02:58:59 PM
I made this coat for my private wedding vows with my husband last New Year's Eve in Big Sur, California (that is real scenery behind me, not a drop--we were on a cliff by the ocean!).  It is an ivory wool lined in champagne colored china silk and trimmed with faux fur.

Do you think it is a pattern and/or a garment I could use again for myself?

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / slinky peach 30's inspired wedding gown on: July 19, 2005 12:56:31 PM
Wow--I hope this works.  I've never posted pictures before so, here goes:

This is a silk charmeuse gown that I made for a friend of mine...tell me what you think!

Just found the picture of the back of the dress (close-up); The chiffon straps continue as tails to the length of the train and could wrap over the shoulders as a stole or be caught up in the wrist loop with the train while she danced--that's what you see here.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I'm increasing my summer wardrobe right this second... on: June 23, 2005 04:42:38 PM
I just want to say that all of the clothing posts have really inspired me and that I finally have time off this summer and am realizing how many "new" outfits I will have if I just go through my repairs/alterations and unfinished projects box!

I will post once I have some of my thrift store purchases revamped; I will probably end up with outfits for Fall by then!

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / slightly stretchy yarn for crocheted bikini on: June 23, 2005 02:39:30 PM
Hi!  I'm new here, so this is my first post...

I would love to make the Brazillian bikini with the crafsters on the crochet-along...but where can i find appropriate yarn?  I've done a Google and am innundated with sock yarns for knitting, and just don't know if that is right.  It doesn't seem so.

Here is a link to the project so you can see the yarn recommendations...

Any ideas?

Thanks!
