I received from portmanteaux today!

This is what I got:



She made me a foxy notebook





With little drawn foxes on each page



And she had her sister draw me a fox as an extra



And! A foxy plushie!



Here he is modeling with my cat, Smudge!



I just love him. And he compliments my couch so nicely! Thanks portmanteaux!

This was a pretty extensive project that I finished a little while ago but I've held off posting cause there were so many pictures to deal with and choose from. I saw this (http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2008/08/fabric_dollhouse_tutorial.html ) little fabric dollhouse online years ago. And then I found the similar if not same pattern in my One Yard Wonders sewing book. Finally I felt inspired to tackle the project. I increased the size of the original pattern so I could use it for sewing notions and such. Thinking ahead- it would make a great playhouse for a small child one day…

I had been wanting to try one of these jars for a while and after being super inspired by that gorgeous snack jar quilt posted a while ago... I went for it.

Had lots of vintage unused buttons and some really cute pink and red fabrics that I hadn't cut into since forever. So one corner of my craft room got a little jazzing!

So I'm a fresh new quilter as of December this year and I made a throw as a gift for Christmas then I got excited and super motivated and started on about 10 different quilt projects. Bad idea. I bit off way too much at one time and got way ahead of myself and super frustrated with a cupcake quilt that I pieced beautifully but trashed during the stippling process. So that project is on hold cause I'm sick of stitch ripping and I decided to take smaller bites. Thus was born my mini quilt fever. This is the first of many and I'm pleased with how it came out. Lesson learned: small projects=more gratifying results for beginners.

A great friend of the family just had a baby boy and she had asked me to make a mobile incorporating ROBOTS- his bedroom theme. This is how it turned out:

It was the most crochet pieces I've ever put together. The most detailed work I've done thus far in a crochet project! Super happy with it!

*So since I received a lot of great feedback on this project I wrote up the pattern for the striped robot which seemed to be the favorite of most. This is my first attempt at pattern writing for the public eye...

Striped Robot:
Body:
With gray make magic ring
Rnd 1: 6sc in ring
Rnd 2: Inc in each stitch space (12)
Rnd 3: 1sc, inc (18)
Rnd 4: 2sc, inc (24)
Rnd 5-9. 24sc
Rnd 10-11: Switch to blue, 2 rows 24sc
Now would be a good time to put your safety eyes on and embroider a smile!
Rnd 12-13: Switch to green, 2 rows 24sc
Rnd 14-15: Switch to blue, 2 rows 24sc
Switch to green:
Rnd 16: 24sc
Rnd 17: 2sc, dec (18)
Rnd 18: 1sc, dec (12)
Stuff!
Rnd 19: dec all around to 6 stitches
Bind off and sew up hole!
Shoulder Pads (Make 2):
With yellow make magic ring
Rnd 1: 6sc in ring
Rnd 2: 1sc, inc (9)
Rnd 3: 9sc
Rnd 4: 1sc, dec (6)
Bind off and leave tail for sewing to body
Arms (Make 2):
With gray make magic ring
Rnd 1: 6sc in ring
Rnd 2-3: 6sc
Rnd 4: 1sc, dec (4)
Bind off and leave tail for sewing
Attach arm to shoulder and shoulder to body- no need to stuff
Feet (Make 2)
With green make magic ring
Rnd 1: 6sc in ring
Rnd 2: Inc in each stitch space (12)
Rnd 3: Through back looks only 12sc
Rnd 4: 12sc
Rnd 5: Switch to gray, 1sc, dec (8 )
Rnd 6: 8sc
Bind off and leave tail for sewing to body. These I did stuff lightly.
Antenna:
With gray make magic ring
Rnd 1: 4sc in ring
Rnd 2-3: 4sc
Bind off and leave tail for sewing to top of head
Light:
With yellow make 1 bobble in magic ring- tie to end of Antenna and attach to head.

So I'm a straight up newbie here on craftster and decided to take the leap tonight in order to distract myself from a hefty snow ban parking ticket I found stuck in my car door in the great city of Somerville, MA... although I should've known better.

I made him for my brother for his 26? 27? birthday... I lose track after a while but it was this past summer. He is by far my most favorite crochet critter that I've made. He brings me joy so I thought he would be significant to share
