1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Drawstrings? Help please? on: September 12, 2008 07:01:58 PM
I'm currently making my boyfriend a pair of pajama pants for his birthday... and i tried to follow the instructions to make the drawstring, and needless to say it didn't turn out. Well, I got kind of mad at it and gave up for now. ha ha!

So i was wondering... does anyone have an EASY way to make a drawstring that will look ok?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / John Deere apron for a guy friend on: September 09, 2008 11:43:40 AM
Why this was made you ask? Lemme tell you!

Last week, a bunch of my friends were hangin out grilling some steaks and some hotdogs. One of my friends says... "Boy I wish I had an apron that said 'Kiss the Cook' on it. That would be awesome!" So I go home for the weekend, recruit my mom to help me and we made this!

A john deere apron. My friend LOVES John Deere.

I also thought he would need pockets for spices, and loops to hang spatulas, tongs, etc... Smiley

So what do ya think?
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / The chainsaw toting boyfriend wanted a wedge pocket thing, so here it is! on: September 09, 2008 11:38:29 AM
A few days ago, my boyfriend requested that I make him a "wedge pocket" so that when he was cutting trees with his chainsaw, he could put his wedges that he uses in the pocket instead of just in the backpocket of his blue jeans. Apparently, it's uncomfortable  Roll Eyes. Oh the joy of living with someone who is a Forestry major in college! Smiley

So after some deliberation of what kind of fabric to use, i realized that I still had a pair of pants from an ex-boyfriend. So I took the ex's pants, cut off a leg, and made this!

View with the wedge in it.

Side view

With the flap open... ok, so it's not the neatest, but oh well.

View of the loop to slide your belt through, so you can wear it on your side.

And a size reference! My hand, pocket, and wedge.

I know its not the neatest, but it's functional! Lemme know what you think.  Smiley
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / John Deere colored Duct Tape Wallet/Checkbook Holder on: March 20, 2007 05:53:47 PM
Well, I'd been looking around online for a checkbook holder duct tape wallet and couldn't find anything i really liked.... so I made my own!

This is the front view of it closed... my hand is in the pic for size reference...

The back view

Pic of it open.. I cut out a heart with my exacto knife out of yellow cause the inside was kinda plain.... I only made 2 card holders, cause I only have 2 cards to put in it.

And this pic shows the money pocket under the id/credit card holder...

Side view showing the check register pages and the checks in their seperate pockets...

I like the way it turned out... if I could change one thing though, I would have made the edges of the duct tape neater with the Exacto knife.... but all in all, I love it!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / What to do with the old granny square afghans you see for sale at Goodwill? on: January 12, 2006 05:38:56 PM
I motored down to the local Goodwill store looking for potential craft material when I noticed that hanging on this rack were many old, (and used), granny square afghans... some were of pretty colors, but i don't think I could snuggle up with one. (Maybe it's the thought of who could of used it..) Anybody have any ideas on what to do with these?
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / embroidered lynyrd skynyrd book tote on: December 08, 2005 08:57:03 AM
i found a 13 by ? sized tote at walmart, and thought "*lightbulb* i should embroider something onto it and use it to carry my books for school!!!" So i spent maybe 5-6 dollars total for the whole thing and i thought it was totally worth it! lynyrd skynyrd is one of my favorite bands and i think mushrooms are so cute, and i'm planning on adding more stuff onto it later.

that's how the logo turned out. i printed off the logo off the net and then sketched it onto the jean material with a yellow colored pencil (i'm in college and i'm cheap!) and attempted to embroider it.

that's the small shroom that i handdrew onto it.

close up of the shroom

considering that this was the first time i have EVER embroidered anything and i had to learn on my own, i think they turned out pretty good.

i wanna add more stuff to the other side (the shroom side) but don't know what to add. Help me out fellow craftsterians! i'm planning on making a liner eventually and sewing a couple of blue jean pockets (off old pants) to the liner.

help me come up with things to put on it! i would appreciate it!
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cute Moo Cow Purse on: December 06, 2005 02:15:36 PM
A while back i was digging thru my mom's material she had and found these different cow prints that i thought were just adorable. With them, i made this...

pic of the inside...

and pic of the purse compared to my hand...

i used the handles off of a christmas gift bag to make the handles.

Lemme know what ya'll think!
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / leaf cell cozy on: November 10, 2005 09:25:34 AM
My friend loves the color green and froggies and another certain green substance, so i made this for her. that pic shows my phone in it...
That shows it open. Since she loves frogs, i added a frog zipper charm to the top. Let me know what you think about this!!! I'm very proud of it!  Cheesy
