2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to keep a Clutter Free Home...ha, ha on: August 13, 2015 02:25:32 AM
I have designated a (small) space as random things. If I can't be bothered to put stuff away or can't think of where it should go, it goes in random things until it is too full to put what I want in there, then I have to go through it all and put it away properly.

Of course I can leave stuff in random things if I still can't think where to put it away, but that means I'll have to tidy it through again sooner.

Because it's a small space it doesn't take me more than 15 minutes to sort out when it has to be done. Working more or less for me for the last 8 months.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / Re: Starting an art journal on: August 10, 2015 03:10:49 AM
Nothing like an experiment: my cheap acrylic gesso sticks well to the glossiest magazine pages that I could find in the recycling bin, leaves a thin white haze over the top of the picture which is more visible on the darker sections but still easy to read the fine print through. All the pens I commonly use for drawing work with no issues (chunky markers, fine point markers and cheap kids felt tips). Oh, poster paint, biro & pencil work okay as well.

I can't speak for charcoal, pastels, water colours (straight or pencils) alcohol inks or specific brand names, but nothing I have tried has failed.

Might a single layer of gesso give you the texture you need without obliterating too much detail?

This has popped up on my feed again and I still love it and still want something very much like it, and still am too plump to get away with it.

Sigh. Beautiful project, well done.

If you're looking for exotic, how about adding some turquoise and gold for a quite indian theme?
