1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / CD angel wings on: April 28, 2011 06:07:52 PM
Hello!  I wasn't sure where to put this but it felt very much sculpture-like while I was building it.  I entered a contest on SuperMediaStore.com and if you like it or find it creative, can you please like it on their page?  I would really appreciate it.  They're giving away and iPad 2 and the deadline is my b-day so it'd be super cool to win!  If I don't win, at least I have an awesome set of wings.   Smiley

Thank you for looking!

Please like through link?  =)

I sketched this idea then created it out of CDs, CD cases (the clear part to hold the strands of the wings together), hot glue, fabric and elastic string. It is VERY hard to cut CDs without fracturing them. I used a blow dryer to heat them up at first but then discovered it was easier to let them soak in hot water. It was difficult for me to find so many CDs to destroy errr.. make into something better... otherwise I'd have entered sooner. I love how these turned out and when I shrug or raise my hands, the wings take on a whole new shape. It's very cool.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Painted Jersey Knit Dress on: March 02, 2011 08:00:08 PM
Hi!  First let me say, my dress pales in comparison to all the lovely things I see on this forum.

I did February's Thing-A-Day challenge.  This is a dress I designed and made out of black jersey knit.  I then sketched a design on it with tailor's chalk, took some soft/matte fabric paint and painted away.  The picture shown is before I gave the belt a second coat of white paint.

Thanks for looking  =)
