21  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Pink Swan - Flamingo Painting on: September 09, 2013 05:18:43 PM
My working title for this piece was "Pink Swan", current title is actually "Silence".

I painted it with acrylics on a 16"x20" canvas, and little fun fact, I didn't use any black at all! It was a challenge, but I really love the result!

22  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Kitty, Grumpy Bird and a Panda on: August 24, 2013 02:49:51 PM
Some afternoon pieces. All three of these are done with brown ink and white acrylic on watercolour paper that I dyed with tea.

23  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Like Smoke - When Ideas Flow on: August 23, 2013 11:33:51 AM
One last piece with ink before I put the bottle away and work with acrylics for awhile.

24  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Pure As We Begin - So a hyena, and two eels walk into a bar... on: August 19, 2013 08:28:02 AM

Sometimes I like to take two unrelated things and smash them together. Like eels, a hyena, and candlesticks (ha! See what I did thar?)
This piece in another ink one, but fine markers this time. I used a teeeeensie nibbed one, and used it for like 99% of this piece. Which took FOREVER. But I love the effect, and I want it on t-shirts or a canvas tote bag.

25  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Graham's Ghost - Extinct Irish Elk and a Skulllll on: August 19, 2013 08:24:36 AM

I absolutely adore drawing with ink. I did this with a dip pen and a trusty bottle of India Ink. Sometimes a little messy, but I love the effect.

Irish Elk are pretty nifty, their antlers grew to over 3 meters across!

26  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Dance of Death - Skele-Lady painting by Danielle Trudeau on: August 04, 2013 10:02:44 PM
Hello folks! Here to share my latest painting!

So bit of background, I have a huge fascination with the human body, and at the university that I attend, I teach labs for a Human Anatomy & Physiology course which fuels my passion. Constantly surrounded with inspiration.
I do a lot of sketches and studies, but now and again I like to do something more. This is the more. Smiley

This was done entirely with acrylics on a 16"x20" canvas. Lost track of the hours.

27  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / The Littlest Pangolin - Sculpture by Danielle Trudeau on: July 22, 2013 09:51:58 AM
Someone had suggested that I sculpt a pangolin. How could I possibly resist? They're so nifty and adorable.

This little guy is about 6" tall, and 4" wide & long. Made with Sculpey clay over a wire armature, and painted with acrylics.

28  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Fetherweight - Elephant With Cecropia Wings Sculpture on: July 17, 2013 08:28:55 AM
Love elephants, love weird things, love moths.
Soooo....

COMBINE ALL THE THINGS!

Normally I give a name to my sculpture critters, but no name has come to me yet. This little dude is about 6" long, 5" high and 4" wide, and is made with Sculpey clay over a wire armature.

Originally I wanted to go for a sort of Dali-style elephant leg-wise, but realized as I was filling out his form with clay that I should have exaggerated those legs WAAAAY more. I decided to keep the legs on the thinner and longer side (comparing to a normal elephant) for a sort of whimsical look.

29  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / "Harness" - An Elephant Portrait by Danielle Trudeau on: July 15, 2013 08:35:00 AM
I love elephants. They are a symbol of strength, wisdom and hope to me.

This piece was done entirely with ink, the elephant itself has been done with your typical black ballpoint Bic pen, and the background with India ink. Pretty large too, 11"x14".

30  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Anubis - Egyptian Steampunk Flying Fox Sculpture on: June 26, 2013 06:58:21 PM

Meet Anubis, my latest sculpture! I think the theme is quite obvious, haha.

He's done with Sculpey clay, and painted with various types of acrylics, like that pretty iridescent gold you see. Such a pretty sheen to that stuff.
