201  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: My version of Dorothy's iconic shoes on: June 29, 2011 03:46:57 PM
Awesome idea with the underside, so quirky and creative.
I've been dying to find a nice pair of thrift shoes to experiment with, you've inspired me, I'll go shopping tomorrow after school.

This is a really nice gift. Smiley I did something similar for my boyfriend on our first anniversary but it was just a card and few really small pages. Now after seeing this I'm thinking I should make another one but this time bigger like yours.

How long did it take for you to make this? And how did your boyfriend react when you gave the book to him? Smiley

This took me probably at least three solid afternoons, like from 11 till 5, to work on. I had made the list throughout the past few months though, but it was the construction of the book and the making of the pages that took forever.

And he got a little teary. He's such a big softie, I love him so much. C:
203  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Two large Purses on: June 17, 2011 02:24:37 PM
Absolutely LOVE the colourful fabric, there is this girl in one of my classes at uni that has a bag with a very similar print (different style of bag though) and every time I think to myself, "I want that bag!!"

I'm a huge fan of that massive outside pocket on the purple bag, seems very practical. Gives it a neat asymmetrical appeal too.
204  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Sexy Animal Print 'n' Leather [Tote] on: June 17, 2011 02:12:42 PM
I'm one of those girls obsessed with purses, bags and the like. And I'm an avid sew-er and can't get myself to actually buy a bag since really, I can make it myself.
I needed something larger, and neat.

Used pockets from an old leather jacket that I've stripped for making other things (another bag came from this badboy) and I believe the rest of the leather on this new tote came from leather pants.
The silvery, silky animal print fabric is from a dress that I bought from Sears for dirt cheap and then shortened like crazy (floor length dress to now high above the knee). Absolutely LOVE this fabric, I wish I had more.
Lined the bag with this really nifty fabric, its an iridescent purplish colour, really rich, but for some reason it turns out an ugly blue regardless of which setting I use on my camera.

I love making purses like this because now, I have a brand new butt-whoopin' bag that cost me basically nothing. Old leather jacket/pants that were given to me for this sort of use, 4 rectangular rings that I snagged off another old bag, leftover fabric from a cheap dress and my old teacher/friend gave me like 10 meters worth of that purple lining, just to get it out of her hair (and classroom).

There's a lot of messy hand sewing to keep things in place and sturdy, and since this bag is for me it doesn't bother me (I made sure to keep the visible sewing neat and tidy).

Let me know what you think!

I love this idea, and I know my boyfriend will love this idea. Its our anniversary on sunday so I was so stoked to make this.

Bought 2 of these little sketchbooks for like $3 a piece, with watercolour paper inside. Took them apart, re-cut, and voila.
Used the original hard covers and covered them with real black leather, embroidered (hated!!).
Book is a little full though, rings would have needed to be a bit wider. Ohwell.

Yay for A7X's batskull! We're both HUGE fans, I surprised him with tickets for their concert awhile ago
206  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: The Girl in Red on: May 23, 2011 04:52:18 PM
Very foxy, looks even better with those little boots.
I'd so wear a dress like this, awesome reconstruction!
207  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: I could have done something normal...Prom dress :D on: May 17, 2011 04:57:58 PM
This is absolutely EPIC!
The design, the colour choices, everything. The construction looks excellent, all that time you spent sure paid off.
My favorite part is the awesome pop of colour from the contrasting fabric, so so cool.

And wow, "whipped" that other dress up in a day?  I'm a quick sewer but if I tried that I would be embarrassed to give it to someone. You on the other hand made it look store-bought!
208  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Wolf and Cub [Feather painting!] on: April 29, 2011 11:28:53 AM
My first time painting on an array of feathers.
Momma timber wolf and baby timber wolf.
Enjoy!!
209  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Amazing Bubble Tea recipes? on: April 21, 2011 03:18:08 PM
My boyfriend and I are HUGE fans of bubble tea. Doesn't matter which flavour/drink it is, if there are bubbles, we will love it.
There's a place on my university campus that sells it but being poor/cheap uni students, our habits are taking a toll on our limited funds. I'm naturally the kind of person that will always try to find a way to make something myself.

I've located a place that sells bubbles, and I'm actually on my way in a few minutes to pick some up.
But flavouring.
My favorite drink is the real avocado shake with the pearls...but I have no idea how to make it. It doesn't taste exactly like normal, real avocados so I'm totally lost.

But other drinks too, any fantastic recipes?

And can you put the pearls in hot drinks? I've never tried before, only in frozen shakes or cold milk tea.
(And while I'm here, does anyone know how to make flavoured milk teas?)
