21  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Prince Themed Fitness Routine Suit *TUT!**NEW PHOTOS!** on: January 21, 2011 06:25:31 PM
I wanted to say this is hysterical, but the execution is so good, I can't help but take it seriously!

This is fantastic. The concept is SO unique and creepy. Great job!
23  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Matelasse apparel fabric? on: January 21, 2011 05:59:14 PM
I am recreating a blazer, and noticed the fabric, which was described as a linen, has a matelasse-esque quality to it.

In my searches, I have only found upholestery and bedding fabrics with matelasse. Am I missing something?

Could anyone give me tips? Please note I am making this for someone with a budget, so the fabric can not be too expensive.
24  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Amber Sweet Zydrate Anatomy Bra on: January 21, 2011 05:53:28 PM
This is a project that has caused many a Repo fan pain and anguish. I am Amber Loves Zydrate on the forum, by the way.

I don't mean to do this in a cruel or malicious way AT ALL, but I have a picture in my gallery of the actual bra that is unfiltered, in case anyone is interested in details. I had no clue until obtaining the picture that the rhinestones are multisized.

Here is the direct link to the picture: (WARNING- Paris Hilton boobs) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/parprincess/Repo%20Screencaps/1%20BEHIND%20THE%20SCENES%20AND%20PROMO%20PICTURES/Makeup%20and%20Wardrobe%20Reference%20Screencaps/Amber/war4.jpg

Hope this helps anyone who wants to make the bra in the future!

Those colors are GORGEOUS. Great job!
26  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Hoping for tips or a tutorial... (recreating boots) on: January 21, 2011 05:47:10 PM
I was hoping somebody could do a tutorial on recreating Bobbi Blu halters. They are knee high boots with suede accents.

They were featured in Repo the Genetic Opera and have been discontinued. I am lucky enough to have obtained a pair, but most fans are left doing without, sitting in the corner with jealousy.

Here is a picture:

The correct color combo is the one pictured above, but the blue is actually what I call a blueberry/navy without the flash. Here is a picture without flash:

I have a million billion pictures, but I just wanted you to see the basic idea. Please feel free to PM me or comment here for more pictures if you are willing or interested in posting a tutorial.

You'd be doing a lot of girls a favor! Smiley
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: December was my busy sewing month IMG HVY on: January 21, 2011 05:36:50 PM
LOVE! Not to mention you can totally pull those leggings off- that look would make a lot of legs look like tree trunks. Great fabric choices!
28  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Re: Repo:The Genetic Opera "Blame Not My Cheeks" dress on: January 21, 2011 05:33:11 PM
Kind of OT, but what wig is that? It's great!

I love the costume as well. BNMC is so under-appreciated by costumers. Usually they just buy a sexy Marie Antoinette costume and call it a day.
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / *UPDATED!* Which Pattern is Best? (Receating an Existing Dress) on: January 21, 2011 05:23:58 PM
Hi!
First of all, let me apologize if this is in the wrong section. This is my first post, and I just discovered this site yesterday!

I am very new at sewing, but my seamstress friend is teaching me to sew, and we are doing orders for costumes from Repo the Genetic Opera. (This isn't a very complicated or esoteric piece, so I didn't feel it needed to be in the cosplay section.)

Anyway, I am in between two patterns, and was hoping someone with more experience could give me some insight? I plan on buying the pattern before I meet with my friend.

Here is the dress I am recreating-

I am in between these patterns:

http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6283-products-13586.php?page_id=108 (combination of the strapless front and short straight skirt deviations)

http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m5881-products-10118.php?page_id=108 (model C)

Please let me know what you think, and if you have any additional pattern suggestions.

Thanks a bunch! Smiley
