61  Re: Monster Ninni Swap Gallery (MAIL BY 6/13/11) in The Swap Gallery by fiddlegirl8 on: June 24, 2011 05:41:05 PM
Are you ready for MORE awesome Ninni-ness!!  Shocked Check out the Ninni I received from sweet SnapsAndDrangons today!! Cheesy

Tree Ninni front (with the sweet birdie card she sent too):

Tree Ninni back:    SOOOOOO COOOOOL!!   Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

And a group shot with his new friends, my Gnome buddy and Dia-de, my Sugar Skull Ninni from Quinndustrious P.:

Now isn't that a good looking group!!  Roll Eyes Thank you bunches, SnapsAndDrangons - you really did some good stalking!  Wink

I had a great time in this swap and think it was kinda cool I had two partners, both who have outstanding embroidery skills - and I'm so glad I was greedy and signed up for two - pretty sure I could do more next time!!!  Each Ninni has his/her own personality - this was a swap where everyone had their own spin on it.  Lots of variety and creativity.  Thanks again, Leslie and Susan - be sure to start up a Round 2 of this swap down the road, Ladies!  Smiley  You'll probably need another co-organizer or two!! This turned out to be a popular swap with most of us ready for another round.  Smiley  Cheesy   Grin

I received from Quinndustrious P. today - She made me a wonderful Dia de los Muertos Ninni for me - I've named her Dia-de, check this out--

The Traveling Gnome that lives in my house has already introduced himself and is giving her the nickel tour of her new home.

They've already become fast friends.  (Sorry my camera skills are not the best indoors.)  Quinn even decorated the mailing envelope with a sugar skull and marigold drawings - Sweet!  The embroidery Quinn did on my Ninni is perfect.  And Miss Dia-de is perfect for me.  Thanks Quinn - you've been a great partner.  Hope you received your Ninni from me today too.

63  My first quilt! in Quilting: Completed Projects by fiddlegirl8 on: June 13, 2011 10:07:17 AM
I made this quilt for my son. I started it at a Super Bowl party one of our quilt shops hosts each year, and although I completed it several years ago, I'm new to Craftster this year, thus the post today. The name of the pattern is Courthouse Steps, which I just realized while typing this is so appropriate for my son--he's an attorney. [I think they call that an ah-ha moment] Smiley  I pieced the quilt, and designed the blocks on the back from the front's leftovers.  I also added my own borders on the front; borders are not all that original, but they're mine! And I did the binding once it was quilted. I was fortunate to find the coordinating fabric for the binding (which I love) after the top and back were finished. The machine quilting was done by a local professional quilter in my area, who owns a longarm machine, and her quilting skills are phenomenal. She changed thread colors on the front when the blocks' colors changed. In other words blue thread on the blue blocks, and orangey thread on the orangey blocks, with the bobbin always blue for the back--the border was quilted the same way with black and green on top, blue on the bottom. She is amazing.

Thanks for looking!  C&C welcome.

64  First time applique -- children's t-shirts in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by fiddlegirl8 on: June 12, 2011 09:08:36 PM
These are shirts I appliqued, as an angel in the latest onesie/toddler t-shirt swap round - my partner has her hands full right now, and has not posted pics, but I'm new to Craftster, and want to put some pictures on my favorite things in my profile, so I'm posting this picture here. (If this is the wrong place, please put it where it belongs!)

I looked at children's coloring books and online free clip art, and kind of changed some things around to create my own designs for four of the shirts. The sock monkey (his hat is my own design) was a favorite of mine and my son, and my partner really liked it too. The pirate started as just a skull and crossbones. My partner was pleased with all the shirts, and sent quite an excited PM when she received - lots of squeals and exclamation points! So, here are my first appliques - I used toddler t-shirts from Walmart; I removed the little pocket on two of the shirts and then prewashed all before applying the appliques. I also made a Ninni stuffed toy (used the current Ninni swap pattern) to match one of the shirts (he's the little striped guy on the yellow shirt). c&c welcome.  Smiley

I'm attempting to post a picture here of the tote (I took before sending):

Hope to see another Givers/Needers swap round soon.  I would like to participate in both Giver and Needer capacity next time!!

Another thank you to craftaddiction and icebyrd67 for all your hard work organizing!  You guys make it look so-o easy.  This was my first swap on Craftster and I had a blast. Cheesy

After back and forth all week, and finally decided I would be so-o left out if I didn't sign up, so I just signed up.  I just yesterday made my first Ninni - I'm attaching a pic - and I made a Ninni shirt - these are for a little friend - I hope he likes them.

Cheesy  I received a thank you gift from thelastkodama today - she created a remarkable gift for me:

and here's a shot with the cute little bears card that came with the pincushion:

Isn't this the greatest pincushion you ever did see?  The little squares of fabric are barely 1/2 inch squares!  And she designed this so I can tie it around my sewing machine, and it won't fall on the floor to become a meal for a doggie (see the thread on the Day of the Dead swap in progress - erica_tattoos has had quite an adventure with her puppy and a pincushion this week!).  Thank you thelastkodama - and I recognize some of those little squares - you're a genius, and I love love my pincushion.   Kiss

I like that Kitty Party idea.

I received my thank-you from zzdia today.  First, a pastel drawing where I think I can read "Thank You Diane" - really pretty - plus some ATC blanks and inchie blanks, because I said I would like to try these two mediums!! (Please excuse my dirty-and-worn-out-but-oh-so-comfortable flip-flops on the floor!  I've had these particular ones since 1995.)

and a watercolor (I think it's a watercolor) of Sunflowers - my home state flower (Kansas):

I'll probably frame and take the sunflowers to work - I work for the State of Kansas.
Thank you, zzdia - I appreciate everything!!   Cheesy

When I arrived home from work today, I had a package from Sejimara!!! Cheesy  She sent a thank you package to me - the outside of the mailing envelope had "Thank you" stamped all over it!  Inside, look at all this loot:

There are three cards with envelopes, stickers and two knitted washcloths/potholders?  I love 'em - they are both a basket weave pattern, and I cannot knit, so even better someone else knit for me!!  I love stickers, so these sheets of stickers are very much appreciated!!
(I hope this picture shows up, or at least there is a link to follow to see it!  I've never "posted" pictures before.)
Thank you, Sejimara - and let me know, did your son finish his robot project??
