1  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween Makeover for a Collectible on: September 14, 2011 11:52:16 AM
Picked up this Precious Moments figurine at a church sale--it was only 50 cents, thanks to a missing wing. PM is not my usual style, so I gave her a quickie makeover with paint...I am now on the lookout for more figures to add to my Halloween collection!

Before:

I wrote up the directions for a client who has a Halloween site, how tos here:

My 3 year old has already liberated this piece for "her" Halloween decorations Smiley
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bows from Disney World maps on: August 19, 2011 05:42:05 PM
Been working my way through the stash of Disney recyclables I have been hoarding Smiley These are made from disney world maps and brochures...
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled Tote from disney bags on: August 16, 2011 06:49:04 PM
I recycled my Disney World bags from our recent trip into a reusable tote--I will use it next time to pack kiddie stuff for the car (it is a 5 hour drive, so the bag needs to be BIG)!

The bags they give you every time you buy something (down to a pack of gum or mints) are huge, and made from thick plastic--they fused up into a nice fabric--the bag stands up on its own.

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Brooder box for chicks! (now with cat proofing!) on: February 27, 2011 04:21:30 PM
I hope chickens count as pets! we're picking up our new birds in about two weeks--they'll be about a day old, so they need a brooder box for a few weeks. We also have one very predatory cat, so here is the solution we came up with:

The lid locks and the wire openings allow for the heat lamp to shine through, but don't allow kitty access to a buffet of small, flightless peeps Smiley

Details on the blog, for anyone thinking "chicks" this spring!
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / MIP: Minion in Progress...and an adhesive question on: February 22, 2011 10:00:49 AM
Working on these for the kids 9well, OK, I have been playing with the two that are "almost" done already!

I am using a fine crochet hook (one of the steel ones, small enough I can't see the number) to make the goggles, and am crocheting around a plastic googly eye. I was thinking of simply sewing this in place, but it looks a little messy. pluss, I stuffed these boys with firmly packed cotton batting for some heft, so I am having a hard time sewing.

Anyone have a suggestion for a glue that would work? the "material" is the floss pictured...
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Consignment problems at Queen City Emporium on: January 26, 2011 04:41:30 PM
Hi,
I hope no one here was affected, but wanted to share this anyway. Queen City Emporium is apparently having some issues with multiple consignment crafters; they have thus far not paid crafters for sold items or returned unsold merchandise. I have put details including links to news stories and ways to get help on my blog. Hope this doesn't affect anyone here, I am such a huge supporter of handmade and of the small businesses that consign correctly, this is just sad news for all involved. http://samanthamcnesby.blogspot.com/2011/01/crafter-beware-queen-city-emporium.html
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Beaded Crosses on: January 22, 2011 05:06:11 PM
So, I was supposed to be cleaning my art room (I have become so inspired by all of the crafty room makeovers here)...but I got distracted and made these instead! I gathered the supplies together to try one of the pretty Tree of Life pendants, but didn't have heavy enough wire for the circle part, so I made these instead.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Cheap and fast Puppy chew ropes on: January 22, 2011 08:19:39 AM
I made a pair of these (with my 3 year old assistant) in about 10 minutes, so cheap, easy and the puppy loves them!(I saw some in PetSmart for $7 each, and made my own for $1 each).

I did a step by step on my blog, but these were basically cut, tie, braid, tie, toss to puppy!

hmm...cant post a picture yet, the link is above! Hopefully I can edit and add one soon!
