1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / NSFW Why My Housemate Loves Me! on: July 31, 2011 04:06:16 PM
My housemate just so happens to be my ex-boyfriend. We have been living together for almost 2 years now after I convinced him to buy our house. We are just now redecorating everything the way WE want it. Since he's let me do a lot of weird things to the place (cool stuff but weird none the less) I thought I would make him a gift to show some appreciation. queen lila's http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=304518.0 Saucy Lamp caught my eye and made me giggle at the irony because he loves cereal and naked ladies. I had to wait for him to get done with a box of grape nuts and scrounged around for an old lamp piece to make this for him.

So here I give you the Dirty Lady Lamp!

Her she is off. I have tape holding the flaps in place while the glue sets.

Now to wait for him to get home from work and see it!
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Goodwill Warehouse on: March 28, 2011 05:14:59 PM
I know that people have of course mentioned Goodwill stores and shopgoodwill.com but a lot of people don't know they live near a Goodwill Warehouse or can find books through http://www.goodwillbooks.com

Goodwillbooks has a ton of books that a reading nerd like me swoons over. Not to mention their quilting section of books is HUGE

But my personal favorite place is the Goodwill Warehouse. It's the place where almost all of the bits and pieces that didn't sell at the other goodwill's along with some newer stuff is sold. Usually its as warehouse type building with a bunch of open bins that you can sort through. On my recent trip with my roommate I got an amazing condition sewing chair, a commodore 64 screen, a jewelry shelf, a stash of vintage patterns, several amazing books, a lamp, artwork, an R2D2 statue and some small knickknacks for about $45.

They go by weight in pounds and they usually take furniture and TVs by item (my sewing chair cost me about $3). If you have a guy that hates going to thrift stores he might actually like this place (my roomie is proof) and if all else fails they normally have a Goodwill Bytes computer store near by, send him over there.

I love goodwill and I have even gotten my family to start loving it too!
