Check in Question: Do you believe in the Great Pumpkin?

Why of course??  Who doesn't believe in him?

We love carving pumpkins. So fun and festive. I actually smelled fall in the air which I'm not ready for but it's coming anyway I guess!

Check In Question:

Do you carve pumpkins for Halloween?

Candy corn is my absolute favorite. Not the harvest pumpkin blend though...just candy corn. I keep my candy corn decorations up ALL. YEAR. <3

I always, always dress up, too! Some form or another of candy corn. I dress up on every holiday I can (blue star pants for the 4th of July, tiara and sash on my birthday (yes, at work) and I have a pretty hefty collection of Christmas sweaters that can almost get me through the entire month with no repeats. I love holidays. I have also finished a quite comprehensive list of ideas for my swappy partner. Super fun!

I think we should have a weekly check in just to make sure everyone is still here with us.  How about a weekly question every Friday??

We will start this week with What is your favorite scary movie?
Oh heck, I'm bad at scary. They showed a "scary" movie at summer camp one time and I ran home. my house was two doors down from the school, but I'm fairly certain a 7 year old leaving camp is not the ideal situation for the counselor. My husband does love the movie "Halloween" though, so I guess, by way of alway having to watch it every year, I can honorarily appoint that movie as my favorite.

Usually we can get by with an air conditioner just in the bedroom! Nope! Three going right now....no lights on though, otherwise I'd just be spending all my time in the basement flipping the breakers back on.

Just finished up one beachy good time and 1/2 way through the 2nd part and I should be ready to send beginning of next week if all goes according to plan...(hahaha). Yay summer but will this humidity at least break?!

Smiley Hello! Here is what I came up with for the dollar store challenge: something fun and beachy for our porch.

Pillar candles, ping pong balls, glass beads, blue twine- like rope and two star shaped containers.

I took the twine stuff and hot glued it around the ping pong balls (this might be my favorite part).

Then I crushed up the glass beads and mixed with with mode podge and covered the larger star with that, which created a great texture. While that was drying, I scooped the wax out of the pillar candles and melted it to put in the glass star container. I used some of the larger pieces from the smashed up glass beads to show through on the sides of it. Voila! Star candle!

Then, I glued the covered ping pong balls underneath, glued the small star to the big star, placed some non-crunched up glass beads on top, and now I have a super festive centerpiece!
