1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Leather Rings with Vintage Buttons on: October 14, 2013 05:59:07 PM
Thanks, everybody! I wore the black and red one today, and it held up fine.

May have stretched slightly.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Leather Rings with Vintage Buttons on: October 13, 2013 01:22:55 PM
The straps for these rings are made from the leather belt loops from discarded belts. I'd been looking for something to do with my vintage buttons, and finally found it!

I'll have to wait and see how long they hold up. They are just sewn together with thick embroidery thread.

Thanks!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Stacked Stones Pendant on: October 05, 2013 04:19:27 PM
I got some cool rocks at my local recycled art and craft materials store. Put them together with epoxy and wire to make a pendant. It's not fancy or meticulously done, but I love it! I'm wearing it a lot because the colors go great with my fall wardrobe.

5  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween Wreath on: October 05, 2013 02:57:10 PM
Just a quick post to share my Halloween Wreath!

It is wrapped with Martha Stewart "Mambo" yarn. Love the Edward-Gorey-esque sketchy appearance it gives the background of the wreath!

Other components include:
  • Lace flowers
Flowers made from recycled, felted wool sweaters
    Covered buttons
    Bits of broken/recycled jewelry
    Salvaged trims
Trim samples from my local recycled art materials shop
    ...and other embellishments.

Can't wait to put it on my office door on Monday!
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: MOH- April Swap Gallery on: April 09, 2013 12:41:01 PM
I received a cool, fun package from gala_apples today!

For Spring Astronomy Day, a writstband with stars all over it. I'm thinking this is a leather stamping technique, right? I immediately put it on as soon as it emerged from the bubble mailer. (My son also may steal it if I'm not careful!)

Next, in honor of Tweed Day, a really cool necklace. I love the parallelogram shape of it! There is a subtle tweedy design on it. Feels like it is made of wood. The picture doesn't do it justice!

Last, some cheery submarine notecards. I'll have to write all my friends, to tell them about Submarine Day!  Cheesy

Thanks so much, gala_apples! Hope my package for you arrives soon, and that you like mine as much as I like yours!

I love the Shakespeare trivet and the astronomy hoop! The Scrabble frame and wall art are also really cool.

I managed to get away from work today long enough to put the package in the mail. Hope you like everything, gala_apples!
