1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Rose of Sharon XS Linen- NOW FRAMED on: January 14, 2011 11:08:16 AM
Hello everyone!  This is my first post on Craftster!  I recently started up cross stitching again to help handle my depression and have since been knocking out projects.  This one I started in high school (circa 10 years ago) and finished like a week ago.

This project comprised several firsts for me:  first of this size, first on linen, first of this complexity, first on 32 count fabric.

The pattern is called "Rose of Sharon" from Mirabilia. It is stitched on 32 ct natural linen (2 over 2). Stitched area size is 13"w x 24"h. I am working on getting the right matte and frame for it.  Full framed size will end up being 20"w x 30"h.

I know there are some errors in it, so right now I can only look at it from ten feet away.  At that distance, the colors really blend together and give it a lot of dimension. But I'm still really proud of it!

A little more story available on my blog: Rose of Sharon.

Added 1/28/11:  And now its framed!  It was such an awkward size, I did all the pieces myself, including having to cut the matte.  Well, ok, the BF did that. But it was all DIY. It still doesn't have mounting brads, but I kind of like it like this on top of my guest room dresser.
