1  A Nerd-gamers Dream in Quilting: Completed Projects by Roses_are_red on: July 17, 2012 06:07:45 PM
So I've worked on small projects before. The flannel lap quilts and blankets that you cut the ends into fringe and tie together... that sort of thing. But I do also like to pride myself on taking up just about every kind of crafting at some point and for some small period of time.

That being said, I was with my last boyfriend for nearly a year and a half before I broke it off. For our one year anniversary, I decided to tackle the ultimate video-gamers quilt. I researched and designed and gridded off my own pattern and, using almost completely fat quarters, I made him a quilt of 16 bit Link. All of the pictures that I have are of it before the borders are put on it or the backing is sewn together. The only finished pictures I have of the finished project include my ex and I don't feel comfortable posting pictures of him on here without his permission... and given that he's not talking to me currently, that won't happen. Each square was 2.5 inches before sewing and I am proud to say that I finished the face of this quilt over my summer break for college.

This is the front of the quilt, the character is all put together but the borders hadn't been sewn on by that point...

Here's a slightly closer image of the character...

And this was the backing all laid out before it was sewn together.

Part of me is sad to see it go but I'm happy that I could make him happy for even a small amount of time. Hopefully some day he'll forgive me and be my friend again but in the meantime, I'll keep working on my new quilt project, this one for myself. Smiley
