1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: This looks fantastic! on: December 06, 2011 07:26:30 PM
This has inspired me to make one with the white tree of Gondor for my own partner.

Thus, to that end, a couple of questions:

You said you made a tie blanket. Did you appliqu the kraken before you tied it, or after? (I'm assuming I'm thinking of the right kind of tie blanket - if not, forgive me!)

What kind of fabric did you use? (I'm assuming fleece, but one never knows)

And I can't quite see how you've done the edging on the Kraken - did you fold it under, or leave it out?

That sounds AMAZING!
I appliqued it before i tied. I Zig zag stitched around in the same yellow and used black tread and a straight stitch to separate the tentacles.
Yes, I did indeed use fleece. (Got all of it 80% off Cheesy)
I left the edges out since it wont ravel.

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Game of Thrones themed Presents on: December 03, 2011 06:56:29 PM
All of the cute gifts for my boyfriend.~

I started out with a comfy 20 dollar sweatshirt that i added an embroidered patch and hood tag to.

Then I decided to make him an eight foot blanket!
I went with a tie blanket.
I started by using an old overhead projector to cut out an applique of the Grejoy's kraken.
Yellow and black are one of my favorite color combinations.

I first attached the applique using spray adhesive so it didn't shift during sewing.
I attached the whole applique with a zigzag stitch.
I just used the overhead projector to stencil out some words with sharpie for the tag on the back.
I attached the tag with a diamond stretch stitch.
This was my biggest project to date.

Just thought I'd share for ideas!
Sorry if I left anything out or messed anything up! It's my first post.  Embarrassed

I love those hats!
I am definitely thinking of making one for my sister who wants to work in the snow.
