1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Ideas for PINK (very girly!) party please on: October 28, 2011 12:27:47 PM
My daughter is turning three in December and wants a "Pink" party.  I have a place that will make a disgustingly pink and sparkly cake for her and I'm going to make tulle princess skirts for her and her friends.  I'd love to hear ideas for crafts and decorations.  I want to go all out!!! I want my house to look like fairies exploded!  (Also, there will likely be three five-year-old boys at the party who I want to include in some way.)

Thanks for your help!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How do YOU do appliques? on: September 06, 2011 06:20:50 PM
I usually cut out a shape, iron it on with fusible webbing, then straight or zig-zag stitch it to the shirt.  But it doesn't look "professional".  I like the way it looks when the edges of the applique have been serged, but I don't have a serger.

How can I make my applique's look more professional?  Can anyone recommend a product to secure the applique to the shirt that holds up well in the washing machine?

3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Inexperience + slippery fabric = EEEK! on: June 24, 2011 07:06:40 PM
I'm a jersey (knit) girl and my daughter fell in love with some pink organza at the fabric store.  I picked up some tulle and some other kind of slippery material with thoughts of making her a poofy pink ballet skirt.  I have no idea how to handle this fabric and I do not have a roll hem foot.  How should  I finish the edges?  And what is a "silk stitch"?

4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Broken plastic laundry basket?? on: May 18, 2011 10:17:02 AM
Need help.  I'm already going to pay the wages of sin for all the plastic toys my children have accumulated.  Can I redeem myself by re-purposing a plastic laundry basket?  I'm not sure what to do...

Thanks!  I'm always in awe of your creativity!!
5  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Help me turn my son into a beanstalk! on: May 17, 2011 04:35:38 AM
My 4 1/2 y.o. is the beanstalk in the school play.  I'd like to make a nice basic costume that can be used year after year in the classroom.  I'm going to start with a simple, green jump-suit.  I'd love suggestions for adding leaves and vines.  (I'm working on the cheap, here!  Wink)

6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Collage on canvas not going well. Help! on: February 22, 2011 05:23:57 PM
Hi, I'm pretty new here and I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forum...

I would like to make some collages on canvas for my kids' rooms but I have NO idea what I'm doing.  Can someone talk me through?  I am using book jackets from favorite books.  I intend to paint the canvases first with acrylic, then affix the paper.  I'm not sure what to use as an adhesive.  I want it to look "finished".  Is there some sort of top coat I can apply? I'm so nervous... Cheesy

Thanks so much for your help!
