Impressive first attempt!  I've been sewing clothes for my kids for about two years and have yet to pull of a dress my daughter could actually wear.  Must check out some of those etsy patterns!

My daughter would love those tutus!  Might have to give it a try.

Decided to melt the edges over a candle.  Looks really good, just not sure how it will hold up...
26  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Inexperience + slippery fabric = EEEK! on: June 24, 2011 07:06:40 PM
I'm a jersey (knit) girl and my daughter fell in love with some pink organza at the fabric store.  I picked up some tulle and some other kind of slippery material with thoughts of making her a poofy pink ballet skirt.  I have no idea how to handle this fabric and I do not have a roll hem foot.  How should  I finish the edges?  And what is a "silk stitch"?

Thanks!

So cute!  My daughter would love this!  What pattern is it?
28  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Broken plastic laundry basket?? on: May 18, 2011 10:17:02 AM
Need help.  I'm already going to pay the wages of sin for all the plastic toys my children have accumulated.  Can I redeem myself by re-purposing a plastic laundry basket?  I'm not sure what to do...

Thanks!  I'm always in awe of your creativity!!

Great suggestions!  Thank you!  I like the idea of wrapping a vine around the suit.  Hadn't thought of that.

Cute!  I love that guppy hat!  I don't think I've every seen anything like that!
