21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Fabric Printing Swap Sign up Closed, Send out 6/3 on: June 04, 2013 08:37:41 PM
spent yesterday without internet and today on the phone trying to fix it and at the post office yelling at people about dc#'s  Roll Eyes ugh, but everything's good now, packages are sent, partners and organizer have been messaged and most importantly both fabrics came out pretty much exactly like i wanted them to, can't wait for my partners to receive.
22  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: LIP BALM RECIPE on: May 31, 2013 05:35:17 PM

I have the exact same problem. I can't stand lip balm that's not minty and every time I find a good peppermint one, poof!, it's gone. I used to get peppermint candy cane lip smackers, but can't find them any more.

I think I'll just try this IF I can find those tubes. Hmmm...

the regular/original flavor of burts bees is peppermint and its natural and lasts a really long time, the only downside is that it doesn't have spf, i think they make one that does have it, but i dont know what flavor it is
23  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: ideas needed for photographing onesies and baby blankets on: May 31, 2013 05:18:16 PM
that's so funny, just last night i had one of those stroke of genius while you're in the shower moments and i was thinking of decorating some baby hangers all cute and using them to display the onesies on, but i didn't think of doing it with the blankets on full size hangers, such a great idea, thanks!

found a whole bunch of fabric paints and screen print dyes on clearance the other day, so i may re-think the color options before i finish printing. i'd say overall, between the two partners i'm about 75% done. i've just been putting things on hold due to stressing out over car issues and then getting roped into making bench cushions for a friend of a friend that i never met before (still don't know how that happened), and having to go to another friend's daughter's birthday party (although that was fun). but the car's fixed now and the boy's gonna be gone most the day today visiting his grandpa and tomorrow evening he's going out with his friends so i should have plenty of uninterupted crafting time to get printing done and get some stuff done for my other swap too

i might need a little bit more time. my car broke down yesterday and while i have my supplies and i can walk to the post office if i need to, most of my time yesterday and today has been spent figuring out how to rearrange schedules to get everyone to and from work on time and dealing with financial stuff and if its worth fixing the car and trying to look for a new car and all that not so fun stuff, so my crafting time is being eaten into quite a bit.  i've actually got a craft night planned tonight with some friends but i think we're using it as a group effort to get the one girl's bench-makeover finished. i'll definately know if i can send on time by mon or tues since those are my days off so i should be able to get more done.

I turned in my questionairre! And since I'm antsy, I'm gonna stalk EVERYONE! Hahahahahahaha!! Ok, for real now, I'm going to go stalk each of you...

The nice thing about being organizer is that I get to pre-stalk everyone - with questionnaires! Cheesy

Hahaha I didn't even think about that! I may have to organize one of these myself soon lol

i'm so glad i'm not the only organizer that pre-stalks everyone.....it may start out as curiosity, but i must say it really does help when it comes to partnering

No more photos as I want it to be a surprise.  It's all done.  I've reread all of the instructions and tidbits and am very afraid that the layers will wash off.  I'm waiting the full 24 hours till I heat-set with my iron so that will be tonight.  Then a few days before washing, right?  Does everyone really wait the few days?  One place said 7 days, another said 4 days.

If it all comes off in the wash, it will be back to the drawing board.  Now I know why some of you started so early!!!  Do you put it in the washing machine?  Or handwash?  Ahhhh.... Such a newbie here  Grin

I usually try to wait the time it says on the paint before washing (i think i have one that's got a 14 day wait before washing) but there've been times when i've gotten impatient and wanted to show off the new shirt i made or whatever and washed after only a couple days and nothing came off. As for handwash vs machine, as with anything handwashing is going to be more gentle and not have as much of an effect on the fabric. so if you're not sure if its gonna last i would give it a handwash first and if it looks like everything held up good (nothing's faded or peeling off) then you can try throwing it in the machine. or if you can always take a scrap of fabric and just smear some of the paint on it and see if that lasts in the wash, i mean you're testing the paint not the design so that should suit your needs.....good luck i hope everything makes it through the wash!

Hmmmmmm, gonna have to think about this one. I did an Alice OTT swap a while back and had fun with that one. I think if i've got my stuff sent out for my other swaps before sign ups end i'll do this one.

Thanks for the idea, maybe I'll try going to a park and taking some pics. But you're right you never know what parents are going to freak out about and I know quite a bit about babies.....hmmmm maybe if I tell them that everything has been washed before being sent......although if i go down this road i'm going to drive myself crazy because people will always find something to freak out over lol
