I decided to whip up a few of these easter baskets the other day.
I made it by soaking crochet string in fabric starch and then wrapping it around a balloon. Then you wait a day or two till its dry, pop the balloon, cut a hole in it, decorate and smash the bottom in a little so it sits flat.
The string I used on this one is variegated (I think that's the right word) with a pastel pink, blue, green and yellow, which I thought was perfect for Easter

I had a request to make one of these string easter baskets for someone and I absolutely loved how it turned out (so much in fact that I ended up making a few more, which I'll show off in separate posts).
I made it by soaking crochet string in fabric starch and then wrapping it around a balloon. It's 18 inches tall so I had to use one of those punching bag balloons. Then you wait a day or two till its dry, pop the balloon, cut a hole in it, decorate and smash the bottom in a little so it sits flat.
This one was for a little girl's first Easter so I think the lace and light pink are perfect. I'm in love with how the bow on the front turned out, I think I'm going to recreate it at some point for a baby headband.
sorry for the delay in pics, but for some reason my computer hasn't been wanting to acknowledge when something's plugged into it. anywho............on to the pics of my awsome package from deathbeforedishes
had to take one of the box just because she used polka dot duct tape
and this super adorable apron! its nice and full too which is great since i make such a huge mess when i bake. i've been lazy and haven't felt like cooking this week so i haven't had a chance to put it to use yet but i've promised the boy i'd make him banana bread tomorrow so it'll get broken in then IMG_4330 by ivoryh1632, on Flickr IMG_4332 by ivoryh1632, on Flickr IMG_4334 by ivoryh1632, on Flickr
she also threw in these great oopsy daisy postcards and this cute stationary set that looks like a bento box IMG_4336 by ivoryh1632, on Flickr IMG_4335 by ivoryh1632, on Flickr
MissSadieMae is having camera issues so she asked me to put up pics of what I sent. Of course that took me forever to do since I'm having internet issues. But they're finally uploaded, just ignore the fact that they're not very pretty pics, whe i took them i was tired and jsut wanted to get everything packed up and done with. her scenario was nucler disaster but she's also into zombies
a camera bag, since she's planning on taking her camera out with her while facing the apocolytic mayhem
a souveneir survivor's tshirt and the back
a set of coasters with photos of chernobyl from her pinterest
a nuclear fallout sign
sign inspired by the pilot episode of walking dead
pocket belt inspired by one on her pinterest
and i didn't take pics but i also included some rations for an army MRE (meal ready to eat, the vaccum sealed food they take on deployment that lasts like 12 years) if i remember there wa some drink mix, coffee, toilet paper, and matches
Finally got my pics to upload of my package from MissSadieMae. My apocalyptic scenario was either zombies or robots.
A lovely zombified santa and polar bear tin, which i think i shall be adding to my permanent xmas decoration collection
filled with these amazing cookies, most of which have been devoured
some awsome robot uprising artwork
an autograph from bill nighy (not the science guy, but the actor that played phil the stepdad in shaun of the dead....not to mention many other amazing roles, such a great actor)
zombie love knee socks, which will be nice cuz its finally starting to cool down here in cali and i love wearing knee socks with skirts. and a pack of zombie shooting targets, which my boyfriend was most excited about and ever since he saw them has been begging me to go to the range (he really wants to mess up that creepy clown zombie). the only thing is that a lot (maybe all, not sure) of the shooting ranges in cali have rules about not allowing targets that are photos of people so we may have to save them until we get a chance to go camping or just use them as decoration until then
a zombified box
and what's inside? zombie ear of course. love the detail on the back of the ear where it got ripped off
a feild guide for the apocalypse, full of awsome info, for real and not so realistic survival situations and funny little cartoons, i think my favorite peice of advice was if robots take over just walk around going "beep boop beep"
and a set of mugs, one with plants vs zombies decorations and one with a robot ready to kill all humans, unfortunately they got broke in transit but i saved all the peices so i'm just gonna glue them back together cuz i figure it'll look more apocalyptic that way all cracked up and i can just use them as planters or something
i couldnt get the craftster photo hosting to work with the thumbnails so if you wanna see the other sides of the mugs or the pages of the book here's the link to my flikr http://www.flickr.com/photos/31284550@N02/

So I opened up my box of halloween decorations and found a few dozen 6in skeletons that i'd got on clerence last year. Threw a few of them up in my window display but decided the rest needed to be made into something more spectacular. So I made this little calavera doll.
i still need to figure out some sort of stand for her since she can't stand on her own, and then i think i'm gonna work on making a boyfriend for her.
I don't do as much day of the dead stuff as I'd like and i was just trying to keep this one kinda simple so any suggestions/improvements would be greatly appriciated.
Recieved from lilusa today. So glad the mailman decided to leave the package by my door instead of leaving a pick up slip like he usually does. She had everything packaged up all cute in tardis blue and white with little tags on everything (also the adress label on the box matched the tags) and when i unwrapped it all
of course the first one i had to open was the one that said "please enjoy stabbing me in the face" its an amy pond pincushion because i can't stand her and how she's always treating rory like crap. and i can't wait to re-use that tag for something, i dont know what, but its going to be amazing
next is a TARDIS key necklace with a tag that says "every companion needs one" so now if i ever hear that familiar wooshing noise i'll be able to let myself in
an amazing Torchwood hoodie with a tag that says "now you're official" and the back
action shot of the hoodie and necklace, please excuse my "i hope i'm getting everything in the frame" face
and finally the most amazing TARDIS wallet ever with a tag that says "bigger on the inside?" the inside, love this fabric, looks just like the interior of the TARDIS, and plenty of pockets and a zipper too and tucked inside the pockets were these little cards with great words of advise on them, and yes i will be leaving them in there so i randomly find them later after i've forgotten they're in there
thanks you soooooooo much lilusa!!!!! i love everything!!!!!!
