21  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: the slowest re-tweet ever for Kanye West's words of wisdom on: October 09, 2011 12:21:05 PM
it took me a couple of days to finish it, but that was because I realized, after I started, that I was out of gray and blue thread. In total, I would guess that I put in, maybe... 3-4 hours and then a couple of hours of hand cramps. Halfway through, I decided that I should have done one of his shorter tweets  Wink

I love this! The ears are my favorite part!
23  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / the slowest re-tweet ever for Kanye West's words of wisdom on: October 07, 2011 06:56:30 PM
Kanye West's twitter account is comedy gold... or at least it used to be, back in the old days when he would twitter ridiculous things about marble conference tables or cherub rugs. I decided that I needed to embroider his words of wisdom on something.

I realized that no design I could come up with could possibly do it justice, so I figured I'd just stay true to the tweet.

this is so cool, the textures are perfect - and I'm jealous because I'm pathologically incapable of making more than one French Knot at a time

I love the textures, it's like a 3-D watercolor painting

I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I guess it's a houseware?

I've known for a while that I've needed a pin, when I sat on a cartoonishly large embroidery needle (fortunately, I've got enough padding in the ass region that it didn't do too much damage), I decided it was time to finally make one. I grabbed the flower pot that has been sitting empty since my orchid died, some poly batting from a pillow my dog chewed up, some felt, some felt scraps and a headless doll and I came up with this:

I originally had a felt gravestone, but it sort of just looked like Marge Simpson had been buried up to her hair.
