I made this guy for lariarocket's swap angel package. It was a fairy tale creature swap and she likes dragons and Tolkien. . . .so. . . .
I knit him up! I couldn't find any patterns that I felt suited the character, so I made my own.
I used Bernat Satin (I thought it gave a nice "scaley" kind of look) and 4.5mm double points. (I wasn't sure whether he should go in knitting or toys, but, here he is!) The wings are felt, and I used Teddy-bear eyes. I sewed little beads onto his chest (as Smaug had in the Hobbit). The only thing I consciously left out were his legs. They looked funny. I thought he looked better without them. So. . .no legs!
I crocheted his back ridges and the tip of his tail. His teeth, tongue and ears are felt.
He was pretty fun to make! The face shaping was especially enjoyable, and I think I got the dragon's muzzle down pretty accurately.

I also had some pictures of him when he was just knit and with eyes, but I can't seem to locate them.


I love the body pattern! would you be willing to share it? I'd like to make a dragon of my own and I can't find any patterns I like.

Nice! I like the texture of the yarn used. Good beard material.
I made one for myself from the same tutorial & I'm working on a blonde one for my cousin right now.
