Thank you all so much for the great ideas! I love this site. The scarf sounds awesome. Please post pics if you make it.

I have joined the Firefly swap, so we shall see what all the crafty people can come up with.

I did it! I actually followed a pattern, even with the yarn the pattern calls for!

It's for my brother for Christmas. But since he likes cameras about as much as a voodoo witch doctor, my glass headed goddess ($12 at the flea market!!) Estella is wearing it.

She looks bad with a towel stuffed up her face. Oh well, now I know.

when everything you see, you think "I could make that" and start making a pattern in your mind.

when you see things on runway shows and think "I could do better".

and now you don't have any clothes you like, because you can't buy any new ones. Because you could make them, but you can't find the time! yup, that's me.
66  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Has anyone tried this pattern? on: November 26, 2005 12:32:42 PM
Has anyone seen anything like this in a knit pattern? I really want to make the best friend a knit choker. I would love to do this one if anyone sees a knit version.

It has been so long since I made anything for myself. I realized I haven't really made any scarves I love. So, with the long weekend, I knit my arms off. And I love what came off those needles.

This is the Lion Brand homespun/moonlight mohair spiral scarf. Tip: If you have never worked with more than say 200+ stitches on a circ needle, things can fall off easily. If I made this again I would use longer needles than what the pattern calls for. Oh, and don't try this in the dark, you will drop stitches when you're not supposed to.

And this is my favorite new thing...
It's the ribbon drop stitch scarf from SnBN, but I tweeked it a little. It's with the beautiful Caron Pizazz ribbon yarn #005 Meadow.

The tweeked pattern:
CO 14
knit 2 rows
*k1, yo1, repeat from *
*k1, drop yo off needle, repeat from *
knit 2 rows
*k1, yo2, reapeat from * (just wrap the yarn around the needle twice)
*k1, drop yo2 off needle, repeat from *
knit 2 rows

continue in this pattern until it's as long as you like. End on garter stitch or it will be really hard to get the fringe in. Here's a close up of the stitch pattern:

That's my first time writing out a pattern. Does it make sense?

Everyone go knit your arms off!

69  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: MP3 Player Cozy/Holder/Case Swap Gallery on: November 14, 2005 08:09:04 PM
I just received my iPod cozy and 2 little extra cozy's from suzie_penguin and I love the colors & the pink buttons. The earbud pocket is great - thanks for adding it. Grin  It fits just fine. There is also one that fits my phone. I don't know what I will use the littlest one for but I will find something. Smiley Thanks again...

and here is what I sent her - I hope she has a picture with her Jukebox player inside (that's my iPod to tell the size) I used purple, black, clear and white glitter vinyl, penguin cloth material that had glitter on it, orange felt beak, purple jewel snap and I machine stitched the heart eyes.

Unfortunately I was so excited to get it into the mail that I forgot to punch the little hole on the side for her earphones and it might be a touch to thick/big for her player. Sad I had to wing it since I have never seen a Jukebox before and only going by the photo on-line and the dimensions.

Oh I'm so glad you liked them all! And I am glad your phone fits too! Thanks for posting pics of yours. The earhole is on the top of those players, so it worked out fine. I loved it and used it happily for a week. Then while I was staying at a friend's house the MP3 player got stolen out of my car. But, not the case, thank goodness. I've been too sad to even look at craftster.org for a month.  Thanks for all the work you put into it. It is perfectly me.  Well, I'm a daddy's girl... maybe i'll get one for christmas. I love my daddy.

Anyway thanks again, and Thank you Morning Star for running the show!

i just finished the baby emperor penguin as a gift for my boyfriend. We saw march of the penguins when it first came out and he's been imitating baby penguin chirps ever since.

EEkk, I love all the penguins here, but that one takes the ice! It is so cute. It even has personality wiith it's little wings up. Great job!
