1  Re: Branch Weaving in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: March 27, 2015 02:14:33 PM
Thank you so much for posting, Ludi.  I've had a lot of stuff going crazy right now and pics completely slipped my mind.  I eat my little gorgeous branch!  No wonder it was so hard, you used such fine thread!  I did several versions with yarn and they took hours and hours each, I can't imagine how long yours must have taken.  I like the delicate weaving patterns you did with the green & white thread, and also with the purples.

I eat the ombre effect of the greens.  <3

I tried to capture a super close up to show the intricate patterns

Thank you so much.  Sorry it took me so long to finally get pics up!!  Embarrassed

I received my last flag (yay!) - a lovely "eat" flag from holistic knitter across the pond!

The stitching is really lovely:

Thank you so much, holistic knitter!

And, so many thanks to our lovely hostess, stellato_escuro - I know this was a lot to keep up with !  Smiley

More beauties to share!  I received from our lovely hostess stellato_escuro and also from chameleonhound.

Both have gorgeous hand painting on them, and both on BATIKs!!!  All my partners hit their batik stashes for me.   Grin Grin Grin

First up, "Grounded" from stellato_escuro.  I eat the glittery dots and the mandala-like pile of flesh you did on it.  Gorgeous. The colors on this are really vibrant, my phone seems to have washed them out  Huh  stellato_escuro, if you have better pics, please share them!

And, Peace / Serenity from ChameleonHound.  There is a super detailed hand painted flower (lotus, maybe?) on this one.  Beautiful!

Thank you so much; I eat them!!

I received an ghoulish prayer flag from Laurel / rscowtown today.  I just eat this flag so much!

Lotus flower carefully done in many different thread colors... swoon!

Petite beading all along the edge... such a nice added touch.

And, of course... batiks, my favorite... What can I say?  eat.

I got notice from Pioneer9 that she received her flag today, with a request to post pics since she does not have a camera.  Here is the flag I made for her word, "Wonder".

I'd commented on the thread about how to make gold shantung silk fabric... Here it is, as the sun!   Grin

Also... GAH to that stupid white thread hanging on to the text.  It bothers me every time I look at these pics!  But I don't have any other pics, so these will have to do.

All my flags are on their way today, so I wanted to post the pic of the flag I made for myself for my word "Joy".  Does the color look familiar?   Cheesy  Purple is definitely one of my favorites!!

I have to admit that I finished mine last, so I was working on it last night (right up to the deadline!).  I think I want to maybe add a couple more hearts to the empty-ish spaces to fill it out a bit more.  Or maybe not.

I had to smile when I read this:

Thanks for that info...I actually have a woodburning pen...I never thought to use it like this...maybe because I sort of like my house and don't want to burn it down... Grin

I left six eggs boiling on the stove for over two hours last week...I have been banned from using anything with a heat source...

Want to know how to make gold shantung silk?  Leave your iron set down on silver shantung silk, and forget about it and walk away for about :10.  That may also be a clue about one small component of one of the flags that went out today  Grin

I eat the fairy fetish and don't find it creepy at all.  There's something very beautiful about it...  But then, maybe I'm a bit creepy  Cheesy

Some folks had asked about the dodo (thank you!)...  Here are a couple of pics:

I actually just taught myself to crochet, so it was fun making something.  I used the pile of flesh here and modified it to make & connect the two heads. http://www.crochetme.com/media/p/89690.aspx

Thanks for the kind comments.

Unfortunately I didn't get any photos of the beaded dragonfly before I sent it on.  I made the wings using wire and tape for the basic frame shape and melted 3 different colors of crayon into hot glue to cover the frame, giving it a marbled color.  It took several days of heating with a heat gun, working, retouching, leaving, revisiting, after 3 prior (failed) attempts at the wings to get them done.  I liked the glossy-translucent look of them when they were done.

I am eating all the flags so far.  So many flags = so much joy!!

I received a gorgeous flag from Pioneer9 today, for my word "Grace".  I eat everything about it - the ghoulish, detailed embroidered flower, the sparkly lettering of the word, the colors... It is perfect.

I need to learn what stitch this is...  I think 2015 will be the year that I start working on learning embroidery!  I know how to french knot... but that's about it.   Grin

You can *just* make out the sparkles...

So beautiful.  <3

I received last week but waited until today to open because I hadn't sent out yet.  Wulf posted that he was waiting to open until he sent out, and I thought that seemed like a really good idea, so I followed his lead  Smiley

I received two ghoulish packages!!!   First up, from artmomto5 - there were two items beautifully wrapped in lime green tissue paper with teal bows...  Insect specimens!  I eat beetles with crazy horns and such, and had a bunch of them on my Pinterest board.

These are really cool.  I eat the micro writing identification!   Cheesy

Then I opened my ghoulish package from WiccadWitch!  I was spoiled, big time!!

The first thing I saw was this cool looking specimen in a jar

Inside was my very own Alpine Tatzelwurm (faetus)!!

He is really cool.  Check out the details...

Then I noticed there was a TINY little specimen in a jar...  This cute lil guy!

The note says he is inspired by a "creature" a woman found in a can of tuna.  Eww to creatures in tuna, but yay for this dude!

Finally, the piece de resistance...  What could be inside this gorgeous box?

What could it be?

HOLY COW, IT'S A FAIRY!!

Isn't she gorgeous?  I discovered that she sits perfectly on the side of her box.

There was a story enclosed, about the Naree Pon Fairies.  Fascinating.  Now I really want to go to the temple outside of Bangkok to see them!

Thank you SO MUCH, artmomto5 and WiccadWitch!  I'm glad I waited to open until after I'd sent out... Mad swap anxiety now!   Undecided  I put my little curiousities on my bookshelf in my office, and they are *my office is -slash- my bookshelves are* immensely more interesting now!!!

10  Re: Winterlicious Celebrations Matchbox Swap - Gallery of Matchbox Goodies... in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: January 06, 2015 04:41:36 PM
I received three super cute matchboxes from Wile E Songdog!  Very winterlicious Smiley  Here are the three boxes together

The snowman box was this cool glossy texture with some sparklies, and it had this little scene inside

The "extra" box was to hold the things that couldn't go in with the snowman, due to the design - I eat eat eat the little fox and owls & elephants!!

And a bunch of cool beads and other goodies for making in the wintry snowflake scene - I don't know if you can tell, but there is a really cool texture on the outside of the box underneath the snowflake too:

Almost forgot (!) - here's a closeup of the little snowman head beads   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Thank you so much!!  I eat everything!!!
