I received a fantastic package from LadybugsandBumblebees a few days ago.  I finally broke down and opened it - I couldn't wait any longer!!

Inside the wrapping was this amazing, hand-stitched bag

I peeked inside the bag and...Oh!  I've been SPOILED!!  WOW!  There are several wrapped items inside:

Inside all the little packages are a complete self-care package!  Including THREE washcloths, gorgeous smelling lavender-vanilla soap, two scrubbies, adorable nail clipper set, and a little knit bag.

I love the colors of these washcloths!!

I think the little knit bag was to put the soap in, and use like a soaping washcloth... At least, that's what I did (I used it today and it is LOVELY)!   Grin

Thank you so much, Barbara, you truly spoiled me!!!  <3

I received my package last week from the marvelous LadybugsandBumblebees.  I'm saving the gifts to do a countdown to Christmas and open one each day!

Here is everything together, along with two gorgeous stockings!

The smaller one is more decorative than functional  Grin  But very pretty!

All the LOOT!   Cheesy Cheesy

Can't wait to open everything!!

FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST!  LOL   Grin

And I am SOOOOO HAPPY!!!  I received a fantastic package from Ludi!  It's like the best possible imagining of what I could have hoped for, and then a notch or two better from there.  Simply a marvelous piece of art.

I forgot to get a photo of the packaging - it was beautifully wrapped in tissue paper... A bit like opening an early Christmas present Smiley

Inside was an amazing forest creature AND a TM style patch of the Egyptian God Anubis!

Petrichor (I've decided that's his name) has a skull face, and vertebrae hanging from his fanciful hat.  (Ludi - what kind of skull is this?  I'm curious?)

He shuffles about the forest floor finding bits and bones, but he freezes whenever anyone spots him.  (His peripheral vision doesn't seem to be too good, so it's really only when you lock eyes with him Wink )

For some reason, he seemed to be quite at home on this shelf

My hubby said it's the best thing I've ever gotten in a swap; I'm pleased as punch that he appreciates it too (he tends to be a bit more function and less art, so we're well matched, but the fact he likes it speaks volumes).

Accompanying Petrichor on his journey was a fantastic Anubis TM-style patch.  So beautifully finished and still has the bit of wonk that I think makes it more to the "TM" and less toward the "mini quilt" (I prefer the wonk Wink ).  ALSO... Ludi is an incredible stalker!  I have a particular affinity to the Egyptian pantheon, and this patch was the perfect thing, at the perfect time.

Of course, the embroidery all around is peerless.

Ludi - thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was straightening up my desk, about to throw away some stuff, when I took another look at something and thought it would be PERFECT to use for the type of item received in this swap / to make a shadow box.   Grin

(It's a box that Christmas cards came in...)

Details of swap:

I am starting to get in the holiday spirit and thinking how fun it would be to have a ton of small items to "fill up my stocking" for the holidays.

If you read this swap prior to the updates, please accept my sincere apology for the update.  I was in a hurry to get it posted as a "Quickie" swap and hadn't thought through what I envisioned, nor taken the time to query interested participants to come to consensus before posting.  Mea culpa.  I'm sorry.  Hopefully the additional notes below provide clarification.

This swap is for 1 small item** (must include some handmade / crafted aspect - for "fill a mug", for example).

**For the purposes of this swap, a "small" handcrafted item should EITHER be something that took you between 45 minutes and 2 hours to make, OR should include $2 worth of items with the small handcrafted item.

Examples:
  • A felt ornament that took 15 minutes to make, plus one $2 item
  • A bookmark that took 5 minutes, plus two $1 items
  • A mug rug that took 45 minutes to make
  • Three felt ornaments that each took 15 minutes to make
  • A bookmark that took 10 minutes, a felt ornament that took 15 minutes, plus a basic mug rug that took 20 minutes to make
  • A $1 mug with a $1 packet of hot cocoa in it and a felt ornament that took 15 minutes to make
  • A basic scarf that took 2 hours to make
  • An elaborately embellished felt ornament that took 45 minutes to make

You can have 1 or 2 partners.   Items do NOT need to be customized to your partner (that way everyone can get a head start if you so desire, and if recipients don't like, hopefully they can/will re-gift), and they should not be specific to a particular belief.

PLEASE try to avoid potential allergens if possible (nuts, etc.), and if your item contains something that could be an allergen, be sure to note that via an "ingredients" tag or attached note!

Since we're hoping to fill up each others' stockings / advent calendars / what have you, PLEASE WRAP YOUR ITEM prior to sending!  It is recipient's choice on when to open, and for the sake of feedback I will consider the swap 'met' if your partner has received their wrapped item (please DO post pictures of the wrapped item, and update your post with pics of the contents once you've unwrapped it).

Ideas:

- Mug Rug
- Felt (or other) Ornaments
- Snack food or other type of 'gift in a jar'
- "Fill a mug" gift

7  Easy-peasy + delicious crock pot breakfast casserole! in Cooking: Challenge Entries by cabaute on: November 23, 2014 06:32:42 AM
Here in Blacksburg, Virginia, home of the Virginia Tech Hokies, we do a lot of tailgating.  And when the team isn't doing so well (*cough* this year *cough*), the games are often around noontiime... Which means breakfast tailgating.  Now, I don't know about you, but I am NOT an early morning person, so the last thing I want to do is jump out of bed to make a bunch of food to take to a tailgate!  Which is where this awesome recipe comes in.  You basically throw it into the crock pot the night before and wake up & eat!

This recipe is straight from here, but I did make a couple of changes (adding in some shredded pepper jack cheese, using spicy breakfast sausage instead of italian sausage, adding some garlic powder Smiley ).

Slow Cooker Sausage Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients:

1 (30 oz) package frozen shredded hash brown potatoes
1 lb ground sausage (I used spicy breakfast sausage), browned and drained
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
1 red pepper, diced
12 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:

Spray a 6 quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray (you cannot make this recipe in a smaller crock pot because it wont fit). Layer 1/2 of the potatoes on the bottom of slow cooker.

Top with half of the (pre-cooked!  that's important) sausage, cheeses (mix them together), onions, green peppers, and red peppers. Repeat the layers again. Or, do what I did, and forget one of the layers, try to dig out / down to add it, then wind up just mixing everything together until the next step...  Grin

Beat eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in large bowl with a wire whisk until well blended. Pour egg mixture evenly over potato-sausage mixture.

Cook on low setting for 8 hours or until eggs are set.  Wake up and enjoy!  Or... if you were doing something else, you could cook it on a high setting for 4 hours.  But, I can't think why you'd ever want to!   Cheesy

My partner FINALLY came through on the Fall Ninni Swap!  She decided to do a Junker Jane style Ninni as a Halloween / creepy-ish theme.

Royce has a salt clay heart and lime green hair.  From the front he's all patchwork, but from the back it just looks like he's wearing a shirt & pants  Cheesy

9  Re: Yet Another TM Patch Swap R3!- Gallery in The Swap Gallery by cabaute on: November 05, 2014 05:21:39 PM
I received three gorgeous patches from crazyda79 today!

I really love the colors she chose - one each from my dogs, trees, and planets themes:

This one is my favorite - I love the "woof woof" and the stitching, and the colors are PERFECT (love bright happy colors!!)

I love the fabric she used for the tree

And the fabrics and stitched 'bands' on the Saturn patch

Thank you so much, Brenda, these are great!!   Cheesy

I decided to carve Oogie Boogie from a Nightmare Before Christmas.  I like how he came out!

Here's a couple of pics right after I carved him, and before I lit the candle & turned off the lights
