11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Found or Recycled items, Wind Chime/Mobile Swap (Send outs May 18/2011) ) on: May 02, 2011 10:38:27 PM
I have most of my materials.  Instead of just using what I already had, I made the mistake of deciding what I wanted and then going to the thrift stores and garage sales looking for this one particular item.  Apparently thrift stores (at least the ones in my area) do not carry items that are considered noisy because they do not want to be anoyed by kids playing with them all day.  No luck at the garage sales either.  Next I will be raiding my niece and nephew's toy box.  My sister in law has 3 kids, 2 boys and 1 girl. They are sure to have every toy in every color.  I am excited to put everything together and see what sort of sounds I can make.  My husband is a musician, so we will have lots of fun with that part.

We have had bad weather too, lost power twice.  Wishing everyone blue skies and nice calm breezes with which to test your mobiles and chimes.  I can't wait to see the gallery fill up!!

Just signed up.  Hope I get partnered with someone who wants a mobile, but I am a borderline hoarder so I could probably make just about anything with what I have onhand.  Of course, if they want a chime I have some really nice stone from a broken windchime that I have been wanting to repurpose.  Either way, should be fun!  This is only my 2nd swap. The first one was fun, can't wait to meet my partner and get started.

I'm not usually a fan of the bib necklace, but I really like this one.  You should post a pic of someone wearing it.  Very cute!!

I'm so glad everyone like it, especially Crassy_McNasty (my husband cracks up every time I mention your screen name).  I totally stole the idea and there are at least 3 crafters selling the album purses on etsy, so I doubt I'll ever sell them.  I was cruising the internet for recycling ideas for albums and it is still my favorite album recycle.  I'll probably make cuffs from the scraps.  I will definitely make more, though.  The reason it took me so long to finish is because I plan things out to the Nth degree.  There was a prototype album that gave it's life for that purse.  But from now on they should go much faster.  Thank you for all the nice comments.  We are all awsomely talented!!

Yeah!! It finally arrived.  I am so glad you like it!!  I had been wanting to make an album purse for a long time.  I am working on another one right now.  I'm actually making myself the full set, it was hard to part with.  I just love the purple Elvis face fabric.  Enjoy!! - Roni

AArrrggghhh.  I've been following the package too, where is it?Huh  I'm so nervous to see if you like it, crassy_mcnasty.

I am so impressed by everyone!  All the handstitching applique work is fantastic, the black cat, the blue octopus, the detail on Atari pin cushion, that teacup pin cushion... you guys are amazing.  I love the fish painting, is it watercolor?  It flows like watercolor, very nice.  Really like the HP signs too...and the curly scarf...I really like everything!!!!!

Crassy_mcnasty, hopefully you get your package tomorrow. Sad

I actually received my stuff last week, but I have had mandatory overtime again this week/weekend and so I am just now posting the pics.  I love everything.  She even sent a treat for my puppy dog Shadow.

There is an awsome jewelery board with hooks for necklaces, ribbon for earrings, and it is cork board behind the pretty paper if I need to improvise.  She made a great retro Atari joystick pin cushion.  Action shot here on my messing sewing machine...

She even sent me a cute blank book which is great because I am a chronic list writer.  I have blank books all over my house with ideas and reminders and this book is super cute.

Best of all I have a new necklace.  I have a nickel allergy, which seemed to throw her for a loop initially, but she made the prettiest necklace with no metal.  There is even a single cute little bird which I tried it get a pic of here.

And here's a blurry pic my husband took of me with it on.

Here's one more pic of everything.

Thank you crassy_mcnasty!!  I am finished with your stuff and I will be on it's way shortly.

I wanted to finish up this weekend, but mandatory overtime at my job has me behind.  I will definitely be done this week.  I have 1 small item completed, 1 cut and ready to be sewn, and the last thing is cut/glued/painted/drilled and ready for me to finish assembly.  Everything that I made is a new for me.  I thought it was the prefect opportunity to try something new.  My partner sent my stuff out and I can't wait to see!!!!!  It's like Christmas, only no one in my family ever makes me anything, so it's better than Christmas!!

Checking in.  Cut out some boards this weekend.  Why is that when I pull out the power tools (with my goggles and well prepared work area) my lines are wavy and when my husband offers to help (no goggles and no shirt) his lines look great?  They looked great all the way through my work table, but they really did look great.  In my defense I should have used his work table, which is lower.  I think I just needed to get on top of the dremel to put some more umph behind the cut.  Anyway, I have all the pieces ready and just need to put them together.  I just read my partners post and I am really excited to see my stuff!!  I love getting mail and I love surprises!!  Yeah!!!  Cheesy
