1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / inafish on: October 24, 2012 10:39:19 AM
Never heard of it? Kirby's friend Kine, a sunfish, made his first appearance in Kirby's Dream Land 2. Kirby and Kine combined to form a dynamic duo that my boyfriend became obsessed with and got everyone he came across to draw pictures of it [link]. This is my contribution.

2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Obi Wan on: October 24, 2012 10:29:38 AM
As a follow-up to the Darth Vader I made a few years ago, I made this Obi Wan as a birthday present for my friend. I used some things I learned from that project in this one; this one is weighted with beans so he stands up on his own, and his head isn't as bulgy as Vader's kind of was... He has nowhere near as many accessories and moving parts an the Vader, but I think he's cute all the same.

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / A Very... *Hearty* Meal on: February 13, 2011 10:55:15 PM

So, my boyfriend and I are going to college, and he lives on campus in the dorms, and only has a 5 day meal plan (ie: no dining hall on weekends).  So, I've taken to making him lunch on Saturday, when he has club meetings to go to.  This weekend, I made him a special pre-Valentines lunch, complete with candy, conversation heart cookies, and heart shaped pasta, with little heart meatballs.

My roommate and I had fun with the cookies.

And I threw in pi...

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Plushies in Disguise on: February 11, 2011 12:29:03 AM
These I actually made a while ago, but I finally dug them up out of my craft box...

Made out of felt (mostly cuz it's the most available material here...) and entirely my own pattern.  It took like a week or two of planning and sketching alone...

All of his joints are fully movable, and tho he does stand on his own it takes some work balancing...  And also the wheels actually turn.  I think bits of him, like his hands and head/neck mechanism, have a bit of an unfinished look...  But I consider this project completed.  I was also working on a Megatron, the G2 tank version, and I was almost finished...  But I had been improvising the head as I went along, and it never turned out right, so he kind of went into my pile of unfinished crafts...  I'm currently working on making the pattern more efficient, easier to make...  Because that one took like 3-4 weeks, which is way too long for my attention span...
5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Darth Vader on: February 09, 2011 12:23:58 PM
As my first post, I don't necessarily know what I'm doing...    So I apologize if I'm doing it wrong...

Inspired by http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=283500.0, using the same amigurumi person pattern, http://geekcentralstation.blogspot.com/2008/03/free-pattern-gandalf-and-legolas.html

This was a Christmas present for my boyfriend, who is kind of a Vader fanboy...  I looked at like a billion reference pics, and made everything as detailed as I possibly could.  I'm crazy like that.  Pretty much all of his... "accessories" are removable; the belt, the cape, the lightsaber, the two-piece helmet (the bottom piece has a silvery bit, I didn't get a picture of it, but from what I understand it's some voice thing?)  and his sleeve, showing his robot hand.  The scarring embroidered is as accurate as I could get it...  But again, I failed to take a picture.  I think he might be a bit too tan...  And I forgot to weight the bottom, so I needed to make a separate stand so he wouldn't just flop over.

All pictures taken with a cell phone camera, so apologies for quality...

Edit:  It made it to GeekCrafts!  http://geekcrafts.com/amigurumi-darth-vader/
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Star Wars birthday? on: February 08, 2011 02:08:17 PM
My boyfriend's birthday is coming up, and I hadn't planned on even having a theme...  But I'm going to make him something else awesome Star Wars, and I've started planning a hecka awesome intense Death Star cake.  I was thinking about also making a Death Star pinata...  Otherwise, I can't find any more party ideas.  Suggestions?
