1  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Covert Art Abandon Swap - 1 Angel FOUND on: November 24, 2012 10:26:30 PM
The Covert Art Abandoners Swap is unfortunately in need of 1 Angel. It is a unique swap in which the majority of your art is abandoned for other people to find.

Swap Name: Covert Art Abandoners Swap
Original Thread link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=412246.0

The Angel is needed for: FrankSpinello - England

FrankSpinello's details:

Do you have a specific location you would like to abandon the art you receive?
Again up to the receiver.

Anything your partner should know about your location? Rainy? Hot? No library or good inside locations nearby? Quite rainy here most of the time

Anything else your partner should know?
I am currently involved with the Liverpool Biennial of contemporary arts, I would like to include this swap as part of some small interventions I'm planning to do around town. This is a link to the biennial site
http://www.independentsbiennial.org/2012/07/28/2012-registered-artists-kaety-moon-and-frank-spinello/
Should work if you copy and paste into the address bar.

Please contact the organizer, jmiller614, to be a greatly appreciated angel.

The Angel is needed for: smeddley

Smeddley's details:

Do you have a specific location you would like to abandon the art you receive? Probably at the library, grocery store, craft store, etc.

Anything your partner should know about your location? Rainy? Hot? No library or good inside locations nearby?  Not really, it's Kansas - almost every type of possible weather, sometimes all in the same day, but plenty of very suburban-inside locations.

Please contact the organizer, jmiller614, to be a greatly appreciated angel.

Details of swap:

Who doesn't like to make art? And who wouldn't LOVE to randomly discover a bit of art in their local library or park?

Each swapper will create 5 small items (they can be duplicates or each different) to send to their partner to abandon. The receiving partner will place these items around their local hometown in the hopes of inspiring others and bringing a smile. Additionally, each person will include 1 small item for their partner. Again, this could be the same as what you made to be abandonned or something different along the swap theme.

As art is received and abandonned, the swapper should post pictures in the gallery. It would be fabulous if the swapper was able to follow up on the art to see if it had been discovered and post as well if possible.

The swap is open to each one's creativity so make this your own! Hiking last weekend I discovered a tree with christmas ornaments in the middle of the woods and it made my day. Hopefully we can share our own smiles and create our own game to figure out where to abandon.

This swap is inspired by a posting by a fellow craftster at http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=408484.0

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / International Covert Art Abandoners Swap on: June 25, 2012 11:17:56 AM
I was wondering if anyone might be interested in a swap inspired by Knickertwists post about her nonsense mushrooms.

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=408484.0

This is such a wonderful idea and I know I would love to find one of these!

I thought maybe participants could fill out a questionnaire about their hometown - what items might fit in, what stories/poems/letters could have great themes, where they are inspired to hide items, and what type of crafts they like to make.

Then you send a few of these to your partner, who in turn hides them around their town. This way you share a smile with someone across the country (or world). The partner could check on them periodically to see if they have been picked up. If you wanted, you could add your email address to see if you might make a friend with the person who found it (and this way, that person is not in your hometown).

Just a thought, but I love this idea!

Thank you to JillHogan for the use of her theme for the swap image.

Work Your Theme ATC Swap

Its time for more ATCs! This swap is aimed at those swappers with a theme. Whether it be ABCs, spelling kitchen, summer, a Halloween countdown, or even purple. Anything goes! You can add to a theme you have, finish a theme, or start a new one.

We will aim for groups of 4 so you will be creating and sending 3 ATCs each. If you are a bit on the crazy side, sign up for multiple groups!

Please note that this will be a challenging swap. Some of the themes submitted by each member may include the last few remaining cards to complete the theme, such as an X in an ABC theme. In other words, cards that no one else wanted to claim during past swaps! I will assign one card from each partners theme to the participants in a group in cases where specific letters or numbers are required so that no overlap occurs. You can certainly trade within a group though if you have ideas for other cards.

ATC FAQs -Everything you need to know about ATCs.

I would like each participant to post pictures after receiving and modify their post upon receiving each additional card. This way the theme stays together and everyone can see the final product!

Gallery  -Please post pictures of your cards here.

HOW THIS SWAP WORKS:

Claims are made throughout the month.  You have two weeks from the time you make a claim to send that claim.

You can make as many (or as few) claims as you want throughout the month as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a card that has not been received; when that card is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to bring it back up to 7 or 10.)

Posting of received ATCs is required for this swap.  Smiley

CLAIMING

1. Claims are made using the following procedure:

Person A (the swap organizer) will begin the swap by posting a list of themes in this swap thread.
Person B will choose a theme from one of A's themes and make a claim by posting his/her own list (see below for formatting of post).
Person C will make a claim on one of B's themes and post his/her own list.
Person D will make a claim on one of C's themes and post his/her own list etc...
This continues through the end of the month, when the swap organizer makes the final claim and closes out the claiming part of the swap.

2. How many claims can be made by each individual:

The number of claims each person is allowed depends on the following criteria:
*Friends of Craftster: 10 claims
*Those who aren't Friends of Craftster: 7 claims
*First time swappers (whether Friends of Craftster or not): 1 claim.  Once the initial claim has been sent, and its new owner has reported it received, the first time swapper is free to make more claims, either 7 or 10 dependent on being an FOC or not.

3. How to make a claim:

A claim post should include the following information:
1. The theme you are choosing and who youre sending it to.
2. Statistical info about your current swap claims status:
  • Claims = Claims currently outstanding (ie., how many not yet received by their new owners.) (This number goes down each time a claim is received, and up each time you make a claim.)
  • Sent = anything currently in the mail.
  • Received = the cards received by the people you've sent them to.
3. Your location.
4. Your personal preferences.
5. Your list of themes

SAMPLE CLAIMS POST:

Quote
I claim GenericFabulosaSwap per for heffalumps/weasels ATC.

3)   wandering men of grief
4)   jumping jehosophats
5)   birds in hats

ONCE YOU HAVE MADE A CLAIM:

2. You have 2 weeks to complete each card, and have it in the mail to its new owner.  Smiley

ONCE YOU HAVE SENT OR RECEIVED A CARD
1. Please PM the organizer when you send or receive a card.  (It's also good to notify the person you received from or are sending to.)
2.  Label the message as August ATC Swap--Sent or August ATC Swap--Received (or some variant of that, lol)
3.  Be sure and include (1)the "send by" date, as well as (2) the theme ]and (3)who sent it to whom(4), in each email to the ATC swap organizer, when you're referring to sent or received ATCs.  (That's four juicy pieces of important information that make my life as a swap organizer OH so easy!   Grin Easy as pie!

For example, you could use this format:
Quote
I sent some ATCs today!   Grin

FEEDBACK
Positive feedback will be given when all of the cards you sent have been received.   Good communication is always cool!  And be sure and post those pictures in the gallery!
