43  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / awkward romper-thing = cute skirt! (my first post ever!) on: January 24, 2011 12:27:46 PM
So I fould this weird romper thing with a sunflower pattern in my closet that I had acquired from who-knows-where a while back. This thing had the worst shorts on it. They were huge and flared and just bad, but I absolutely loved the fabric. I thought about it for a while and decided that I wanted to make it into a skirt. So last night I broke out the scissors and sewing machine and set to work...

This is the romper before...

(a close-up of the sunflower pattern)

...and this is the romper after! (Bonus: there were already pockets in the shorts portion of the romper!)

I absolutely love my new skirt! I didn't do the best sewing job on it though, but I don't really care. It isn't too noticeable. It was my first recon and I'm extremely proud of it.

I was so excited to wear my skirt today, but I didn't have any elastic on hand for the waist, so I went and dug out an old hoodie string from my box of crafting supplies so that I could cinch up the waist until I get to the craft store. Tongue

So what do you think?
