1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / My First ATCs - Harry Potter Themed on: August 14, 2012 05:50:15 AM
So I made these for the Harry Potter Craftalong that's going on and had a fair bit of fun with them. The base of each of them are made with playing cards. The theme: Ravenclaw, Golden Snitch, and Firebolt. They're simple, but I like them and they've inspired me to perhaps make more.

A Firebolt ATC

This one has forest green scrapbook paper on the front with a little broomstick made out of a brownish paper and a scrap of cloth. The back (not pictured) is a lighter shade of green paper.

A Ravenclaw ATC

This one has a light blue scrapbook paper on the front. The different designs are made with various markers, pens, and colored pencils, and I even added some glitter stars. (What of course spilled onto my carpet floor where I was working, lesson learned I suppose.). On the back (not pictured) I cut a piece of old jean fabric to size and glued that on.

Seeker Challenge: Golden Snitch ATC

This one has the same light blue paper as the Ravenclaw ATC. The snitch was made with a circle of paper and I used silver sharpie and a grey colored pencil for the wings. The clouds I added with a little white paint, all other designs made with various markers, pens, and colored pencils.

Thanks for looking!
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Craft My Religion Swap Round 2? on: January 14, 2012 08:19:07 PM
Okay, so I was just wandering the different threads and I came across a closed swap from 2008 in which partners crafted items related to each other's religion. Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=255834.0 Would anyone be interested in doing a similar swap again? (If any of those involved with the original swap want to take credit for the idea, please do so.) I'm not old enough to organize it myself, though feel I would really enjoy participating. I think this would be an awesome swap, especially in this day and age when promoting respect among members of different belief systems is needed more than ever before.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / A Few Harry Potter Inspired Crafts I've Made (A Bit Pic Heavy) on: July 23, 2011 07:24:26 PM
Here are a few Harry Potter inspired crafts I've made. The wand is for a Harry Potter themed camp I volunteer at, Private Message me if you want info about the camp.

And for the pictures:

The Wand
To make the wand, I (with my mom's help) first used a knife to whittle a wooden dowel into a wand shape. I then painted it with green and brown acrylic paint. For the vines I wrapped thick hemp twine around it and attached the string with hot glue, and then I painted the string brownish-green.

And a closeup of the base. It's just soft green ribbon wrapped around the dowel.

Wand Holsters
These were simple to make, but I'm fairly happy with their result; they serve their purpose at least.

A Not-So-Scary Monster Book of Monsters
This is my version of the Monster Book of Monsters. I first started it at a HP&DH Release Party, and polished it up/re-did it recently. First I took scissors and cut the pages all jagged. Then I covered the covers with furry green fabric, and lastly made some eyes from felt, puffy paint, and googly eyes.

And the side view:
