Okay, so I've been lame at posting in this thread, but anyways, I received from Solitary Cricket a day or so ago, and the package she sent was positively amazing. It included: a ravenclaw charm bracelet and earrings (which are apparently chainmaille according to my friend, making them doubly epic.); three adorable crocheted amigurumi owls (which still need names, ); an awesome crocheted Monster Book of Monsters journal cover and an extra notebook; and an awesome little wand which I think is made from wood and polymer clay. I literally squeeed when I opened the package.
The Package, all nice and wrapped in parchment
The Whole Package Together, all the wonderful items. Shall post more detailed pictures when I get the chance, but needless to say I love everything and Solitary Cricket did a wonderful job.
Also, everything else in this gallery so far is all amazing and epic and awesome and all of the above times a thousand.
So I made these for the Harry Potter Craftalong that's going on and had a fair bit of fun with them. The base of each of them are made with playing cards. The theme: Ravenclaw, Golden Snitch, and Firebolt. They're simple, but I like them and they've inspired me to perhaps make more.
A Firebolt ATC
This one has forest green scrapbook paper on the front with a little broomstick made out of a brownish paper and a scrap of cloth. The back (not pictured) is a lighter shade of green paper.
A Ravenclaw ATC
This one has a light blue scrapbook paper on the front. The different designs are made with various markers, pens, and colored pencils, and I even added some glitter stars. (What of course spilled onto my carpet floor where I was working, lesson learned I suppose.). On the back (not pictured) I cut a piece of old jean fabric to size and glued that on.
Seeker Challenge: Golden Snitch ATC
This one has the same light blue paper as the Ravenclaw ATC. The snitch was made with a circle of paper and I used silver sharpie and a grey colored pencil for the wings. The clouds I added with a little white paint, all other designs made with various markers, pens, and colored pencils.
Okay, so I know it's really last minute, but I had fun completing these projects for the Quidditch challenges. The projects: my first three ATCs, which are all made from playing cards decorated with scrapbook paper and various embellishments and a red duct tape change purse.
First off, the quanity and quality of all the projects in this craftalong is simply amazing. I don't have time to comment on any individual pieces now, but I do want to share a few small projects I've completed. I'm hoping to get a few more done (including some Quidditch challenges) before the end of the semester, but well life's been a bit busy. I got back from camp (the HP inspired camp I work at) a few days ago, and that was awesome. Anyways, the projects:
Class: Astronomy House: Ravenclaw Project Name: A Little Pouch of Sunshine Project Page Link: None Brief Description: So I made this small sewing project actually near the beggining of the semester and never thought to post it until now. I was looking for a small pouch to capture a few rays of sunshine and to hold a few special items when necessary. It's very basic sewing, but I'm still a begginer so I'm fairly happy with it. Project Picture:
Class (or House Pride Item): Knight Bus Challenge House: Ravenclaw Project Name: A Simple Purple Card Project Page Link: None Brief Description: I made this little card with the intention of sending a letter to a friend. Though I haven't yet sent it, I've realized that it is perfect for applying a small listening charm to when riding the Knight Bus so that I can capture any happenings which occur during my travels. Project Picture:
Class (or House Pride Item): Divination House: Ravenclaw Project Name: A Sanity for My Mom Project Page Link: None Brief Description: So at the Harry Potter inspired camp I work at, ducks, specifically ducks known as Sanity are kind of a huge thing. Sanity is kinda the camp's unofficial mascot, so I figured what better good omen than that. Furthermore, I realized my mom deserved her own little Sanity since she's been really supportive of all the camp stuff I'm involved in. So I present, a small Sanity drawing - drawn on cardstock, colored some, and with a purple background. Project Picture:
Challenge: Reducio House: Ravenclaw Project Name: A Tiny Hogwarts: A History Project Page Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=410017.msg4854065;topicseen#msg4854065 (Page is part of the swap gallery, which in general is filled with epically awesome stuff. Brief Description: For the OTHPT Rd 3 Swap, my partner v3nu5 had a variety of favorite Harry Potter related things. So I created for her a special copy of Hogwarts: A History which serves to remind her of all her cherished HP memories. It was made with an old cereal box, scrapbook paper, and other little bits and pieces. The miniature Ron is made with craft felt and the bracelet with just glass beads. Project Pictures: (Pictures courtesty of v3nu5 (Venus) because well the only ones I have were taken in the dark) Letter I sent & Book's Front coer
Left to Right: Gryfindor 1st Two Pages w/ bracelet, Ron & Hermione page spread w/ a little mini Ron plush, I really liked the color scheme I made w/ this spread - Weasley's Wizard Weezes
Dobby & a Dumbledore Quote
Snape & Lily Quote, Buckbeak
Venus said she enjoys it, which is good. It was probably the biggest paper-craft project I've done, before it's been mostly bookmarks and such. A fun project!
Oh my gosh, this gallery is filled with so much awesomeness already. To add to the amazing and tiny things, my package from v3nu5 aka Venus - which was simply mind boggling. There was much squeeing involved during my opening of everything. She sent me a wonderful Luna Lovegood amigurumi complete with accessories and friends. The package includes: Luna herself in her Ravenclaw robes, the cutest little Pgmy Puff - from Ginny to Luna according to the context of Venus's card, a little bag in shades of blue, a copy of the Quibbler, an itty bitty book of "Useful Spells" with the pages actually filled out and a little string bookmark, a not totally miniature version of Luna's cork necklace, Luna's wand made from a toothpick and polymer clayand finally a tiny pair of Luna-style 3-D glasses and a precious little Thestral; both made out of shrinky dink material. The yarn items are all crocheted, down to Luna's little beaded radish earrings. Venus, thank you sooo much for the amazing package! I positively love it!
Okay so Jennilocker received last week, but I guess she hasn't had the chance to post pictures, so I figure I'll post one. I made her some button art, a monogram letter for her and a picture frame for her daughter.
Sorry it's not the best pic, my photography skills are amateur at best.
Class: Charms House: Ravenclaw Project Name: Trefoil Academy House Pride Project Page Link: None yet Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, techniques used, and any fun tips): I wanted to make something to help one of my friends at Trefoil Academy (the traveling summer wizarding school we attend) express a little house and Academy pride, so I cast a few charms to transform various pieces of colorful paper into a pretty bookmark for her to enjoy Project Picture: Side One (I kept the aguamenti charm most in mind on this side. It has pieces of glittery scrapbook paper, stickers, and the name and motto of her house at Trefoil - Waverider; Creativity Can Solve Almost Any Problem
Side Two: I drew from the Academy color (Purple), the motto (Adapt, Improvise, Overcome, Mischief Managed), and various things to represent her personality and interest, as well as Trefoil Academy's unofficial mascot-Sanity (the duck sticker)
So the past two days I've been crafting most of the day, it's been pretty fun, and it's nice to see the results. Anyways, an asisgnment (also have Charms done and a Reducio project started, pics to come later.:
Class (or House Pride Item): Care of Magical Creatures House: (if desired): Ravenclaw Project Name: A Not-So-Scary Monster Book of Monsters Project Page Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=386618.msg4573315#msg4573315 (Page also has a few older HP related crafts) Brief Description: One cannot study CMC without the proper materials. A friend of mine was lucky enough to find this slightly gentler Monster Book of Monsters so I could better study more advanced subjects in the field. Project Picture:
