1  Celtic Dragon Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by Cinnamoon on: February 21, 2015 10:38:48 PM
I've spent the weekend in bed with a bad cold, and naturally used the rest time to marathon-watch BBC's "Merlin". This dragon sort of just happened somewhere along the way, inspired by the series' beautiful imagery.  Smiley

The dragon is stitched with single-strand embroidery floss on a cotton background.

It's pretty small - only 4 or 5 inches square. What do you think?

I have been horribly remiss in posting a picture of the gorgeous prayer flag I received from A2K last week!

Isn't it gorgeous? The verse is "You will call, and He will answer; you will cry out, and He will say, "I am here."

I love it so much! Thank you A2K! I hope you like the flag I made for you.  Smiley

6  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Rnd 6 Gallery!! (Send 9/12/11) in The Swap Gallery by Cinnamoon on: September 17, 2011 12:35:47 PM
I received the greatest hoop ever from RubyLynns a day or two ago!

She made me a beautiful Mario! I love, love, love Super Mario - I think I've played just about every browser version that there is. And she got him down perfectly!

Jealous yet?
Look at that super awesome satin stitching! Mine isn't even close to that neat.

Thank you so much for the wonderful hoop, RubyLynns! I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Cheesy

8  Re: Craft my favorite quote swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by Cinnamoon on: September 08, 2011 07:58:39 PM
I received my package from my wonderful angel finchy a few days ago! I'm so sorry for not posting pictures right away. I meant to, and had the pics taken and everything, but then life threw a cosmic fireball of busy-ness at me, and I haven't even had time to breathe for the last little while. But now, without further ado, here's my brilliant package!

She sent me a beautiful hoop inspired by my quote "Stand in the Rain", an awesome cuff with a quote from Lord of the Rings, and some Japanese candy which was gone long, long before this photo, but which was awesome! My favorite has to be the hoop. It's so beautifully stitched, and every time I look at it it just uplifts me.

Thank you so much to finchy for being such an awesome angel! <3

The amazing extras she sent:

A ton of little clock hands, an adorable little mirror, and a tiny bag!

And here's what was in the matchbox itself:

Two super cute hair pins, a little vial of gears, a bunch of flower buttons (see what I did there?), some stunning earrings, and three gorgeous old stamps!

Thank you so much for being my angel, guacamolly! You're the best!

10  Verse on a Grecian Tree in CHALLENGE 65 ENTRIES by Cinnamoon on: August 05, 2011 04:41:12 PM

When I saw this challenge, I knew that it would be perfect for my first entry. I tossed around ideas for a week or two, trying to decide what to do. I knew that I wanted to do some kind of picture with text, but I just couldn't quite make it look right in my head. Then I had a thought. Who said it had to be English text? I decided to use a portion of the Greek New Testament to make an image of a tree, beginning at my favorite verse - John 1:5.

I embroidered the tree in backstitch with one strand of embroidery floss. I didn't keep track, but I'd estimate that it took me 10-15 hours. The tree is composed entirely of the greek text.

I traced the outline of the tree from an image I found online, and then free-handed the text onto it. There isn't really a font - just my handwriting!

Of course, there are mistakes, and I had to keep reminding myself to look at the big picture. I think it turned out quite well, and I'm very proud of it.
What do you think?
