191  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap - January 2013 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Mountains and Clouds on: January 28, 2013 03:56:27 PM
I just got an awesome card from Susie Apple for my "world created inside your mind" theme.  She also sent a fantastic extra, which I'm assuming is inspired by my user name!

I think they're both wonderful!  What a fun world!

Ehermehrgerd... Oops, I totally forgot to bookmark the gallery! (Big surprise, it only happens pretty much every month Tongue)  so many amazing cards so far, I can't pick favorites... But holy moly, blupaisan, you're back in full swing with bunches of fabulousness!  And wow, you guys all have crazy amazing drawing skillz.

Well, I have some more awesome to add... First from Oath Keeper for my "world inside your mind" theme:

She explained how her mind is full of cute adorable things, like cartoons and plushies, amongst (ahem) other things. Wink it's called "Destruction."

And next, from SunnyDawn, for "moon on a string."  I'm going to say it again, you guys never cease to amaze me with all the diverse ideas you've come up with for this theme!

"Moon Tea!"  How absolutely lovely!

Thank you so much, ladies!  It's great to be back in the swap!

195  Feathered skeleton bird in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Mountains and Clouds on: January 15, 2013 10:37:38 PM
I'm not sure if this qualifies for this category, since there's technically no pottery or polymer clay in this project... However, it's kind of clay, and I'm not sure where else to put it, so.....

Here's what I made!

My partner in the Mini 12 Days of Christmas swap was redstar13, and she had pinned a skeleton bird with feathers on one of her pinterest boards.  I specifically didn't go back and look at it between being inspired and making the finished product.  I did not want to be tempted to make it the same.... Later, upon going back to look at the original bird, I realized it was made by another craftster, noooitaremybirthday, and was posted on her blog.

Needless to say, upon going back and looking at Noo's bird, I'm glad mine ended up being very different from, although clearly inspired by, hers.

I ended up making this bird from Crayola Model Magic Clay.  I like it because it's lightweight and smooth.  And it air dries.  It's a little bit finnicky to work with because it's a bit spongy.   I made the legs with thick black wire, and painted the body with acrylic craft paint.  (depending on the brand, some don't work as well on the model magic, so test first if you're going to try and paint it!)  I stuck the feathers in his butt after he was dry, and reinforced with glue.

Thanks for looking!

196  Holiday felt bunting in Winter Holidays by Mountains and Clouds on: January 15, 2013 10:13:21 PM
For the Mini12 Days of Christmas swap, I made this felt bunting for my partner.  It's all hand-sewn, and took a long time, but I like the results.

I regret not getting more (or better) pictures, but here are just a few closeups (you can see some of the glitter paint I used for the outlines underneath the stitches!).

197  Skully felt pillows! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Mountains and Clouds on: January 15, 2013 10:06:21 PM
I'm not sure if I've ever ventured into this board before... usually my crafting extends as far as paper, and maybe some paint.  But, pillows?

For the Mini 12 Days of Christmas swap, my partner, redstar13 listed skulls as something she likes.  (She does like anatomically correct skulls and skeletons-- I admit these are far from that.)

I thought it would be fun to get some stuff not Christmas-y.  So I ended up with this!

And this!

And this!

They're made with cotton fabric and felt.  I did use a tiny sewing machine to reinforce the seams, but everything else is hand-stitched.  I really like how they turned out... I should play with fabric and felt more often!

198  Jingle Bell Bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Mountains and Clouds on: January 15, 2013 09:47:42 PM
One of the things I made for my partner in the Mini 12 Days of Christmas swap (redstar13) was this bracelet.

I wanted it to be simple and wearable, so I made jump rings out of thick black wire, and also wrapped some red and green wire rings too.

I like the little dangling jingle bells!  (I am weird and very particular about jingle bell timbre, and I really like the way these sound.)  The clasp is a simple S-shaped wire.

Thanks for looking!

199  Mini Wintery Scene ornament in Winter Holidays by Mountains and Clouds on: January 15, 2013 09:34:03 PM
One thing I made for some family and friends this holiday season was this ornament!

I found some clear plastic (not glass-- they needed to travel and I was worried about breakage) ornaments... The snow base in the bottom is crayola model magic clay, and I had squished it in there with a wooden dowel.  I also used some snow-tex to give it snow texture along the ground.  The trees are pipe cleaners, which I trimmed with scissors and also donned with fake snow.  The other bits were just embellishments I had or found at the local craft store.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, Anuenue's been having a lot of fun!  (I love the felted slug!)

I've finally updated Rupert's blog... here's a shot from our brewery tour we took when we ended up in Wisconsin for an extra day due to weather:
