Muno and I jumped over to Kaua'i for a gig this past weekend!
We had delicious fish tacos at a place with dollar bills stuck all over the ceiling!

Anyway, I received this awesome card from curiousfae for my Hawai'ian Folklore theme!

I've been so busy with working all the time that poor Muno has mostly just been tagging along... We did have a chance to take a break from work for the half marathon on Sunday. Muno gladly waited in the car for us, but was happy to pose with the finisher's medal afterward!

Ok, I feel like I am phoning this one in, since music is my job and I do these on a regular basis anyway... but I'm going to take advantage of the theme and submit my reeds, since I have pretty much been too busy to keep up with the crafty train lately!

Project Name: Reeds for oboe and English horn

Project Link: (if available)

Brief Description:
Some of you may know that I am a musician in real life.  I teach full time but I also play a lot. My primary instrument is oboe... which requires time spent making reeds to play on.  (The process involves many steps-- I start with tube cane of arundo donax, which is kind of like bamboo-- and I have to split it, plane it, gouge it, shape it, tie it on a metal tube, and then whittle it down till it makes purdy sounds.) So here you go.

Muno arrived last night, but it was rainy and then I worked all day today, so he had a chance to meet the ohana.

I can't tell if Monkey was upset that he wanted to share the clubhouse!

Project Name: Homage to the Evolution of Sound Recording Technology

Brief Description:
I am a musician, and have been thinking about the evolution of sound recording. It's really amazing how far we've come, and so much information can be stored in such little space now.
I was also inspired by gozer's recent revival of LesliesHappyHeart's braided scrappy bracelets!  (The charms are shrinky dinks... Wax cylinder, record, casette, cd, and MP3 player..)

9  Homage to Sound Recording Evolution (via scrappy braided anklet) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Mountains and Clouds on: March 27, 2015 11:58:21 PM
I am a musician, and have been thinking about the evolution of sound recording. It's really amazing how far we've come, and so much information can be stored in such little space now.

I was inspired by LesliesHappyHeart's scrappy fabric bracelet tutorials (and gozer's recent revival of them in the nerd battles) , so I decided to make one as an homage to the progress of sound recording.

I made shrinky dink charms of a wax cylinder, a vinyl record, a cassette tape, a CD, and an MP3 player (I wasn't sure how to depict an mp3...), and used them in this anklet.

Also, when I wear it, the charms jingle (clack?) a little bit. Go sound!

Here's my LV, 'Uluwehi, upon her return from visiting Disneyland with Whistley two rounds ago!  After her short break, she's ready to go out on another adventure!
