1  Baby blanket... now I only need the baby to go in it! in Crochet: Completed Projects by mertletheturtle on: May 25, 2011 11:06:04 PM
Finished my first "large" project! Ok, so my little brother is having a baby and everyone has been really odd about it. He's 18, and not married to the mother. But I am seeing it as, HEY i'm going to be a tante again! So whenever I found out, the next day I went to the store and bought some yarn and started working on a blanket. I wanted it to be pretty big so he can grow into it. Finished size is 36 1/2 in by 44 in.

Bernat Softee Baby in Mint and Lemon. 2 skeins of each color were used, with a little bit left over of both. I used a Boyle I/9-5.50MM hook.

All laid out.

Up close of the stitches and the colors. Hey look, a toe!

Scalloped edge (I don't know how to do anything other than this honestly....)

The "pattern" is:

132 ch st. Turn. Ch 3, dc into 4th ch from hook and dc in each st across.
With color A, work 5 rows of dc. Turn. Ch 3, dc into 4th ch from hook and dc in each st across.
With color B, work 3 rows of dc. Turn. Ch 3, dc into 4th ch from hook and dc in each st across.
With color A, work 8 rows of dc. Turn. Ch 3, dc into 4th ch from hook and dc in each st across.
With color B, work 6 rows of dc. Turn. Ch 3, dc into 4th ch from hook and dc in each st across.

Repeat until desired length.

I think I shall go ice my wrists now... Thank you DustyChica for the crocheting pattern slang.

2  Help! Have 4 yds of unknown material. in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by mertletheturtle on: January 07, 2011 11:41:56 AM
I don't know where I got it, or what it is. It feels like canvas, but I can see through it, and it's a bit rougher feeling. I really want to use this in a skirt, but i'm pretty sure it's to thick.

Close up of texture.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Smiley
