1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Some of the tatted pieces I've made in the last while. on: February 19, 2016 09:38:05 AM
Thanks! It took a bit to figure out how to get it to work at first, but then once it clicked into place, it was easy to do. Following patterns isn't always easy though, and I'm still figuring out that part sometimes lol.

I really got into tatting lately, because it's cheap, and once you get the technique down, you can make lots of different things. I've been experimenting with bracelets mostly, with the occasional necklace.

This is my favorite so far. I love the colors. I'm keeping it to myself =D

This one I did in the dark grey with red beads, and it's not quite as nice as I was hoping it would be, but other people seem to like it.

And the first of this pattern that I did for a friend, that I think is super pretty, just not the color for me =D

And this is another style I've been experimenting with, that I think is kinda neat.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy, thanks for checking it out.

Thanks guys =) I can't wait to see how it looks cleaned and starched. It has to wait a bit though, I have nothing to starch it with right now.

Ooh, sorry, didn't realize it didn't have a larger picture as well. I forget how to do all this, it's been a while!

There, now it has a full version.

Thank you. Fortunately it's a cheap hobby to pick up. It's not the easiest craft I have picked up, but I like how it looks.

It took me a long time, and I started over a few times, but this is my first project. I still have to clean and starch/shape it. I'm pretty proud of it though, despite the mistakes.

Thanks! I use a candle flame to carefully melt the edges a bit. You can do it a bit longer to get more curly petals, as I've done with some of my other projects.

I've started making these hair clips to try to sell, all to fund my fabric stash.

Pretty Smiley very elegant, I make these too! I always try to get the edges to curl upward like a real flower but it never works out like yours.

I try to fold it so the edges are pointed up (if that makes sense), and then I go at the flame on the side of it, but try to get it to singe the fabric starting at the underside.

That's awesome!

I'm really jealous of anyone who can do singed fabric. I tried to do it once...it ended with my hair catching on fire and a vow to never try it again.

You may have been using the wrong fabric. I just set up a small tea light candle and slowly melt the edges of polyester lining for this.
