1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Cricut Reviews....? on: May 24, 2008 09:12:36 AM
My boyfriend is in the market for a new motorcycle and in order to sweeten the deal for me he has agreed that I should/need a Cricut machine (I'm pushing for the Expressions model)

Just wanted to know if anyone has had a nightmare with theirs or if everyone is totally in love??
2  COOKING / Dessert / Super Easy Microwave Peanut Brittle on: November 28, 2007 04:33:52 PM
I found this recipe in an old book my mom gave to me and it worked out so well I've made 8 batches! I'm going to be flying home before Christmas and I wanted something to bring with me that didn't cost a fortune and yummy.  So I thought I would share it!

1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 cup peanuts
1 tsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda

Mix sugar and corn syrup together and microwave on high for 4 minutes (it's an older recipe and my microwave in 1200W so it only took 2 1/2 mins to get it bubbly) Mix in peanuts Microwave on high for 3 mins (or 1 1/2 mins for me) Add butter and vanilla, microwave on high for 1 min (or for me 30 seconds) Add baking soda, mixture will froth. Quickly pour onto a greased cookie sheet (I found that if you tipped the cookie sheet around the brittle spread out more.  Let cool.  Break up and Enjoy!

Play around with the microwave times, as long as it's bubbly every time you take it out your on the right track!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Advent Present Wreath on: November 24, 2007 12:38:47 PM
I always had a homemade advent wreath(that didn't have candy or chocolates in it) when I was a kid and my boyfriend always had the store bought one filled with chocolate.  So I split the difference! I made an advent wreath with chocolate in the presents (made out of match boxes)  It took longer then I expected but I love how it turned out.

4  UNITED STATES / North Carolina / HELP!! Re-locating to Greensboro area from Toronto Canada... on: August 10, 2007 06:17:15 AM
My boyfriend is on the verge of accepting a job transfer that would move us from Toronto to the Greensboro area.  From what I've read it seems like a clean, calm community with lots of families.  I'm still trying to figure out if/how I can work and what's needed for that (trying to make sense of visa info is not easy).

I've snooped around and I am pleased to see craftster's from the area.  Any info about the area would be great!! Is there a lot of craft stores? Great neighborhoods to live in? Do you have public transit? ect

Absolutely any info would be helpful!!
5  CANADA / Alberta / Possibly Re-locating to Fallis? Pls HELP on: July 27, 2007 10:07:50 AM

Does anyone live there and tell me about the area, or have visited and can let me know what's around...shopping, crafts, movies ect.  I do know that it's an hour away from edmonton, but what is the drive like there? My boyfriend would have to work in the edmonton but I would be working in Fallis

Any info would help me make this huge decision in leave Toronto

Thanks in advice
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Hot Tea with Fruit in it? HELP!! on: May 19, 2007 07:54:23 AM
Here's the story, my b/f took me to this geat new tea house in our city, but i dont like tea (or any hot beverages).  I ordered manderin orange tea and loved it except when the bill came and the first tea that I ever liked was $6.99!! So the Craftster in me knew I could make this myself, but I can't figure it out.  I've search the internet and come up with nothing.

This is what I'm looking for:
Hot tea mix, maybe herbal, that doesn't have a strong traditional tea taste, more fruity or juice like that you also have slices of fruit in(or thrown in after the hot water is added).  I just don't know what kind of tea (or tea and juice mix) to use...

PLEASE HELP this tight budget crafter become grown up and drink hot beverages!

9  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Dehydrator Help on: January 22, 2007 04:32:39 PM
I got one for Christmas but it didn't come with a fruit tray to dry fruit leather or roll ups on.  What can I use instead? Some sites have said to use plastic wrap but I'm worried about that melting and wreaking my machine.  What about parchment paper? I figured if it could withstand the over it would probley be ok in the dehydrator

Thanks for any advice
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Beads in Vegas? on: January 06, 2007 02:30:22 PM
I have posted in the Nevada section but to no response, so I hope to do better here.

Can anyone recommend good craft/bead stores in Vegas? Is it worth a car rental to get to the good stores? How close is the Joann's? I'm from CAnada and we don't have Joann's here so I would be happy with knowing how close one of those is to the strip as well!

Thanks in advance
